I agree with OP. The techmatte one is pretty sweet.

I just bought a ProClip and a Brodit holder for my iPhone 6 Plus. Expensive, but VERY happy with it. I use the open bottom version since my USB port is at the bottom of the car by the gear stick. I just use a retractable cable.

I have even managed to set it up so it fits with my case on (Diztronic Matte).

I had the airframe for my 5 and now have the airframe+ for my 6+. I like to keep my car neat, and it's far and away the easiest to stow when not in use.

I do have a wheel that shuts off the air flow to my vent so I don't have to worry about it getting hot or cold. If I didn't have that, it could be an issue.

Been using ProClip mounts for years. I've been getting the model for use with thin cases + pass through for the Apple branded lightning cable.

Paired with custom car mounts from ProClip / Brodit, Kuda Mounts, RAM Mounts and other companies, I don't think any other car mount can beat ProClip except for price.

Highly recommend the pro clip. I got the one with the lightning pass through. Adjustable for your case size. Easy to install and very, very strong. Doesn't wobble, etc. Good product.

Are you using the mount with the two adjustable sides or the mount with the non-adjustable sides but with the adjustable clip-top (~Seidio clip)?

What are the pros/cons of the two designs?

[Edit: I should add that I plan to use it with the phone in a horizontal position.]

I have the model that can be used with thin cases (has adjustable sides) and that the Apple Lightning cable can be attached to.

It holds the phone tight enough that it can be used in landscape mode. That's how I have mine everyday when I drive to and from work.
