I connect my iPhone 17Pro to my truck via cable (and have changed cables in troubleshooting to no avail).

Playing music via the Music app works fine
Receiving phone calls works fine
But calling up Siri to send a voice-to-text message results in simply the color shift/aura to the truck's screen - but no sound. If I select a received message to be read - no sound. GPS voice prompts do not play through.

When pressing the button on my steering wheel to call up Siri for any request, the truck's screen shows the color aura around it... But no sound whatsoever.

Have you tried fully deleting the phone connection on the phone and radio side? Any OTA updates for the radio?

Another thing to check is the volume associated with iPhone sound. Pick and play a moderately long message through your CarPlay interface. While it is supposed to be audible, slowly turn up the volume. Same goes for nav voice prompt. You may need to do it a few times.

Getting the right (or even audible) balance between sound sources can be tricky. Different head units handle it differently. However, most can be adjusted while a specific sound source is playing.

Hope this helps.

Could also be a problem with your truck's system and software. Have you checked if any updates are available for your truck's system?

id suggest, as others have posted already to delete the connection and re connect from scratch. Car Play has been rock solid (both wireless and wired) since the very early betas of 26.0 for me...so either your vehicle is not up to date, audio is muted or it simply needs to be reset. Also might be good to post your truck model and year to see if anyone else with same model/yr has the same issue.

Like bilibug said, your head unit may have different volume settings for different sources, and the source for Siri might be set all the way down. I know that has happened in my car before. It seems to keep separate volume settings for whatever music is playing, Siri/Navigation, phone calls, and the phone ringer, maybe more.

For example if my phone starts ringing, and I raise or lower the volume while it is ringing, that will only change the volume of the ringing. Once my phone quits ringing and it goes back to the music, the music will be playing at the same volume it was before the phone started ringing. Same thing with navigation, if I change the volume while Siri is giving me directions it will only change the volume of Siri, the phone ringer and music volumes will not be changed.

At some point in time it is possible that Siri was giving directions or reading a text in your truck and someone turned the volume all the way down. Try finding a long text message and having Siri read it out loud to you, or having Siri tell you a story or a joke, or something like that, and then try adjusting the volume on your truck stereo while that is happening.
