Hey. Since updating to iOS 18 (I think that’s when it started) I have noticed a few bugs with CarPlay.
The main one I have is when asking Siri to send a message, she doesn’t ask “what would you like to say” and doesn’t repeat back my message.
However if I press and hold the voice control to manually invoke Siri, she will happily respond fine.
It’s not the volume - I’ve tried adjusting when she’s speaking or meant to speak but no dice. Wireless or wired is the same.
Tried deleting car and all the connection before redoing it but still nothing. Even iOS 18.2.1

I’ve seen a lot more issues or similar issues reported on Reddit.

Anyone else having issues?

Car is Peugeot 308 2022.

There is a setting for "Spoken Responses" under Settings > Siri > Siri Responses which could be worth having a look at. Mine is set to Prefer Silent Responses which seems to suggest it reacts differently in different situations. Not sure what yours is set to.

Unfortunately not this. I tried all that. Thank you though.
The thing is sometimes it will work then stop so deffo a bug of some sort

I am having the exact same issue with the CarPlay module I added to my 2013 Cadillac SRX. Siri will not read my text messages aloud if I click on the message sent to me nor if I click on someone’s message chain to send a text in the messages app there is no “what would you like to say to X person” however if I say “hey siri what did X person say to me” she will read the text out and ask if I’d like to reply with no issue.

Running iOS 18.2.1 on 15PM

This is a somewhat related issue I think. I have a 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee with UConnect and I pay for the Jeep Connect service annually (basically updated nav supposedly). While cruising along, if I receive and respond to a text message through CarPlay, after that any spoken readings of additional messages I may get later, and even my built-in nav through Jeep Connect, the spoken words are totally inaudible unless I turn the volume all the way up to max. Strangely, music -- iTunes or SiriusXM volume isn't affected, just CarPlay and the UConnect nav. It takes me shutting off the car at my next stop and the system resets itself and all is fine, until I respond to another text via CarPlay later in the trip. Yet if I forget to turn down the nav volume again it's ear-splitting. FWIW, this happened with my old iPhone XR and my new iPhone 16 Pro, on iOS 17 & 18 ...

Needless to say, my local Jeep dealer says it's an Apple problem ...
