lol.. that picture.. it looks like someone velcro'd some crappy tablet to the dash as an afterthought.
Easily for some - not for others. For the squeamish, have your unit installed professionally with a warranty, you could really mess your console up if you aren't careful. Aftermarket units are sometimes like house renovations, not everything fits perfectly.Such a joke they put in under powered USB ports to begin with. Straight cash grab to install and software upgrade. Could easily do both on my own.
It's limited. That's the point. You should be looking at the road and not playing with your phone.Yeah i just got a new car and thought wow great CarPlay.
SNOOZE.
Come on Apple This could be so much better. Kind of a Joke.

Super comparison!Already installed it. In Slovakia, September 2018

Sounds like a problem with your car. The echo, for sure, is a poor implementation of your mic, speakers, and lack of noise canceling.Does CarPlay suck for anyone else?
Mine is riddled with problems. When I make calls people hear an echo of themselves back. Depending on when I plug my phone in, it will sometimes connect and others it won't. It will just randomly disconnect. It happens over multiple phones, multiple OS's, and multiple model of phone. Its very frustrating.
I assume you meant other navigation apps? Because CarPlay has always had 3rd party apps.Yeah i just got a new car and thought wow great CarPlay.
SNOOZE.

Can't imagine what a POS it was before the last update that allowed other apps to work in it.
I am yet to see the benefit to CarPlay at least in my case. I have a new BMW and the CarPlay option i declined was extremely expensive. My iPhone is linked bluetooth to the car and I have access to all of the music and the contacts for the nav and audio system. I have handsfree phone capability and can make and end calls from the car with the phone in my pocket. i am very happy with the NAV system on the BMW.
We were looking at some new Camry’s at a local Toyota here. The window sticker said Apple CarPlay compatible- available in future software update. The guy at the dealer insisted that this only meant Siri eyes free. Needless to say he lost the sale, didn’t even know what he was talking about.Yay! Now I can call my dealer for them to say “what’s CarPlay?”
Because it allows you to use third party apps now like Waze. Perfect for cop traps.I am yet to see the benefit to CarPlay at least in my case. The 19s have Apple CarPlay upgrade coming soon on a window sticker. It’s the same software as the 18s, so there’s hope.Does anybody know if Toyota offers anything like that? My 2018 Camry is equipped with Toyota's Entune Micky Mouse system. and upgrade to CarPlay would be nice.
Actually, no.Maybe it's me, but CarPlay is pretty underwhelming. Especially if your car has built in navigation. The only thing I use it for is sending and receiving texts.
You guys do know what one BMW acronym is right.I agree BMW is gouging by charging a yearly fee for CarPlay, but it is free the first year, then $80 a year afterwards.
