Carriers Preparing for Launch of iPhone 12 Models With 5G Support

I mean faster speeds would be nice, but my city is very unlikely to adopt full coverage of 5G for years to come.
They’ll likely sell it to you with a $100 reduction. Just like they’ve done past years.

you have to keep in mind that it isn’t a live event with press showing up etc so they could have easily just filmed everything all at once but only releasing part 1 so to speak

Still not sure what I would do with 5G though. Reach my data cap of 10 GB even faster? I only see 5G valuable to stream faster but that is limited by those data caps, at least here in Germany so even with 5G i would be too conscious to stream too much on mobile data. Therefore pointless. Can I have a LTE only iPhone 12 for 100 bucks less please? 😁

Can’t someone develop an algorithm to more accurately predict when the iPhone launch will be? Like giving individual factors like previous models going on sale, other rumors, various credits, and then looking at the date options and giving each a percentage likelihood that it’ll happen that date.
So everyone will be excited for a phone they won't be able to buy for at least a month.
They had to do it with iPhone X as 8 was ready to ship and they couldn't announce X in a separate event, they don't have to announce 12 next week if is not available. People want to pre order as soon as possible
carriers are unlikely to be privy to any specific dates this far in advance.
I highly doubt that. The major carriers are fully aware of the launch schedule at this point.
As far as I'm concerned, LTE is plenty fast. What I want is solid coverage everywhere. I'm in the DC metro area and have had Verizon, ATT, and Sprint. They all suck in certain areas for coverage. Sprint was by far the worst, but Verizon and ATT aren't much better when you get outside cities or away from major highways. Please, for the love of all that is good and holy, add more towers for better coverage before increasing speeds...
Yea at least 4G LTE started in Philly, but it still took 2+ years to hit the Lehigh Valley. 5G isn't anywhere in PA yet.
You do know that no one really cares about 5G, right?
It is just another cellular network and shares all of the same major downsides as every generation before it.
AT&T has 5G in Pittsburgh, Philly, Erie, and across other less urban stretches of the state.

Because those are the products ready to ship now. Apple isn't going to hold them back from their intended release schedule just because iPhone 1 month+ delayed.

Yeah they're not listening.
3G, 4G, LTE, all were abandoned long before reaching respectable coverage and never reached a fraction of theoretical speed.
The carriers would rather turn over every few years to have something new to market, then to ever provide decent coverage
I live 52 miles from the White House and I don't expect that we will ever get true 5G in my county. We will probably get AT&T's 5GE.
