I just do not get the logic of having an event next week ( that is already happening a week later than usual)with no mention of iPhones just to get another keynote invite a week or two later to introduce the next iPhones. To me it just makes sense to announce everything already even if the devices will have a staggered launch.

I agree with this 100%. iPhones are being announced next week with staggered release launch dates.

Do we think that, like LTE, there will be a switch in settings to disable 5G? Not raining on 5G's parade or anything but I monthly take a 5 hour drive that barely had enough 3G and LTE to be able to continuously stream Spotify. I assume the small pockets of 5G will make the switch even more abrupt.

Hoping so since weak or no signal will most like drain battery from it constantly looking for 5G

Mark my words, Apple will announce all iPhones in the next event with shipping set the following month or two.

No they won't, they haven't even started production yet. What are they going to do? Show people making them in China for 30 minutes? lol. They won't be announced iuntil late Oct and out in Nov, Dec for Pro models. Pathetic.

Hmm, don't need 5G for at least a year or more, don't like squared edges, for the first time I may be skipping this generation.

I love my 11pro max, hopefully they will have something more compelling than Lidar, if not, I'm pretty happy.

Same here, nothing inspiring so far too upgrade from XS Max or 11 Pro Max! I love XS Max design, can't settle it for anything lesser!

Who gives a damn about 5G anyway?!?!? Pointless.
Apple gives a lot as they have to pay HUGE money (of course much much lesser than poor buyers) on 5G modem. That will have an effect on both overall pricing, choice other components, standard accessories bundled ...

I would be coming from the X and I am still not convinced that the 12 Pro Max would be worth it to me. I upgraded my wife to the 11 Pro Max last launch so she should be fine there. I want a new phone, but the XS and 11 series didn't pry the $1250+ from my wallet and that 5G will likely never hit my rural area this decade mean Apple will need something really compelling for me.

Amazon and SpaceX will have low orbital satellite networks that will provide 5GB mps in operation in 2022! Even fiber optical cable cannot match that performance!
I don’t believe anything that Musk promised. None.

I'm also wondering whether the event will be exclusively about Watch and iPad. It's scheduled as a two-hour event. Sorry to read too much into the marketing for the event, but "time flies" seems to refer to a time of flight sensor. Plus, why are we getting AR objects. Sure, perhaps the new iPad Air has a Lidar Time of Flight sensor...but, that's nothing new as the iPad Pro has it already. I don't know one way or the other. But, that's my justification for seeing the new iPhones earlier than the leakers are suggesting.
I like your way of thinking. I was thinking the same thing on length of the event. I would think they could easily wrap up an Apple Watch and iPad reveal in an hour. I say announce it all, let people preorder that Friday, and if some of us have to wait weeks to a couple months for iPhones, then so be it. But, I’m just a simple buyer. I don’t have sources and don’t predict anything :)

Musk? He makes pretty good stuff, I like the car more than any I've ever owned or driven. He's launched a metric boatload of comm satellites, in orbit already. He shot a freaking car into space, instead of plain ballast. Say what you will, history will speak kindly of Musk. He's far more imaginative than Apple, and climbs far bigger hills.

As a current 5G user...this is all marketing mumbo jumbo. Marketers love to use words to bait consumers "FULL HDTV, 4K, 5k! , 5G, LTE, MU-MIMO, FIBER!".... 5G doesn't exist yet for the most part, if it exists it has limited reach and its not the real 5G which is the mmWave one. If 5G exist, you won't notice any difference using the device. You will only notice it when download mega huge files at least hundreds of MBs. Its like in computers, if you get a newer faster machine Office won't write documents in Word faster and e-Mails won't be sent faster.

No 120 hz, no charger and a smaller battery. Another year with my iPhone 7+

add in no touchID thats a deal breaker

It sounds like what you're waiting for is the Plus size version of the SE2. I think it will happen and hopefully be around $450.

Who gives a damn about 5G anyway?!?!? Pointless.

If it was as fast as promised I might, but I live far enough out that I don’t have dependable 4G yet. I’m not holding my breath for 5G near me anytime in the next 10 years.

the current SE is on my watch list, waiting for the the iphone 12 to make the choice.
You said no Touch ID was a deal breaker so that's why I said the larger SE. The 12 won't have Touch ID. Maybe the 13 but who knows since that's over a year out.

5G Is years away from maximized coverage. It will never be 100% The carriers have been working fast so that they can charge extra but outside of big cities not yet
