Any way to join the beta testing? I test 3 other apps and would love to try another. And the premium gets you what exactly?? 30 minute refreshes and what else?

If you email through the app, I can add you to the beta. The premium gets you half-hourly updates, rain prediction in the US, Canada, and UK, and the ability to customize your complications (see above).

Le sigh. I'm upgrading to premium. You suckered me. I want to see what else the app has to offer. Customer service has been great so far in terms of communication and so far it's beating out both of my other weather apps, one of them I'm beta testing as well. Unfortunately, continuous up to date weather complications are what I'm after. Looks like your app is the only one truly following through with everything I want. I'll email through the app now too after upgrading.

So the hi/lo will change to precip data if rain is in the forecast now? Also I included in the email to have the location data as part of the complication. I would rather see that than the hi/lo or at least have the option to swap them.

Yep, lines 2 and 3 will change to show the start/stop time for the rain. If it's currently raining and the stop time is more than an hour away, you'll see the high/low plus a message showing either the precipitation chance for that hour or a message simply stating "rain for the hour".

I'll look into including the location in a future update - I removed that originally to save room so I could include all this other data instead. City names are usually so long that they take up an entire line on the Modular Large slot, which would screw up displaying data like "mostly cloudy for 4 hrs" or "rain in 6 hrs" because that text takes up more than 2 lines.

The complications are great! Any chance of adding the date (ex. 11/1) to the large complication? That would free up another spot on the watch face.

Unfortunately, Apple didn’t intend for developers to offer multiple complications for the same app, so there’s no way for me to tell how many complications you have active at once (which would be necessary for me to display one set of data in one complication and another set in another complication).

Have a look at the list of complications in CLKComplicationServer activeComplications, I think you'll find it can be used to determine how many of each type are in use.

Hmm, I'm not sure that'll really help, because it doesn't tell me what slot each complication is in. So say you want to have 2 small complications, one displaying precipitation chance and the other displaying UV index. On the first refresh of the complication, the precip chance will go in the left-most slot and the UV index will go in the right-most slot. On subsequent refreshes, the data could get reversed, with the precip chance complication going where the UV index was before and vice versa. Unless there's something I'm missing?

You'd need to keep track of the complication IDs yourself, so you don't change what's in them from the last time you updated. I think that would do it.

Hmm, I wasn't aware that they had discrete IDs - do the IDs persist across reboots or switches of the current watch face? I'll have to look into that a bit more.

There still wouldn't be a way to force one set of data to always be on the left slot, at least not that I can think of, and I think people would expect to be able to choose where each data bit goes.

Thanks. I would think it's users choice. If the end user wants to forego certain info in order to see location, so be it. All I would want to see for it for example is

Line 1: location
Line 2: current temp
Line 3: conditions currently or "rain in XX minutes"

Something almost like the stock weather app, just have the ability to mix and match info as wanted.

Any deals on multiple purchase?
Watch and Apple TV.
;-) ;-) ;-)

If I can make a suggestion though. I'm interested in this as I'm falling out with Dark Sky somewhat, but as a fairly pricey and essentially subscription app (I fully understand and accept the reasons for this) could you think about a time limited full featured trial period?

I know it's only 5 quid, but, I don't want to waste 5 quid on something I don't like after a week; and with all the apps I'm buying, those fivers add up. I will, in almost every single case go for a premium app that allows me to try it fully first.

Sadly there's no good way to do trials on the App Store at the moment without significantly reworking the app - and even then, it might cause more problems than it solves. I definitely appreciate that's it's a lot to drop on a weather app, though on the bright side a whole lot of people seem to agree it's worth it ;)

OK. I understand, thanks.
I may take a punt on it then but will check out the others first. It's the warning of rain that's particularly important to me and having been astonishingly bang on at first, Dark Sky hasn't sent me a warning since watch os2.

:-/

Ok.
I decided to take the plunge and bought your app with the premium upgrade.
I like the style, detail and humour so I also bought it for my ATV.
But, having said above that I was looking to move away from Dark Sky as the alerts had become unreliable, I have yet to get a single one from your app. Is this an issue you are aware of? Is there a trick I'm missing?
Any help appreciated.
Thanks.

CARROT Weather for iOS doesn't currently have standalone notifications - you need the Mac app to receive them. The Mac app works sort of like a server, constantly checking the weather in the background and then forwarding notifications directly to your phone/watch. I'm definitely planning to bring standalone notifications to iOS, though; the Mac app was just the first step, because it was a lot easier to have it send out notifications than to have a central server sending them out to everyone. Apologies if there was any confusion but if you email me through the app, I can add you to the beta so you get access to notifications as soon as they become available for testing (hopefully later this month).

thats odd because Dark Sky gives me daily morning weather status's as well as weather warnings before they happen.
I'm on OS 2 also.

OK. I understand, thanks.

Dark sky notifications work great for me on the iPhone. I get customizable time daily notification. So for me every morning at 7:30 AM I get a snapshot of the days weather. I also get notifications on the phone before it rains or on snowy days

The problem I have is with the Apple Watch. The dark sky notification on the Apple Watch are very hit and miss. That is what attracts me to carrot weather. I would like to have better update on the Apple Watch.
