In the words of 'Mater, "I'd drive my tires over busted glass to see that picture."

It was brilliant. I loved it. Best Pixar movie yet. Especially the end credits. :D

Stay ALL THE WAY 'TIL THE END! That's all I have to say.

well i was wondering how this one would turn out. i loved all the rest of the Pixar movies, but this one had me skeptical to be honest. i guess i'll have to go see it sometime soon then. :D

Nbs2 and I don't have a set number of movies we go to every year. Last year, we actually went to see four in the theater. I think he forgot about seeing Harry Potter, King Kong (India--so uber cheap) and Shikhar, a Bollywood film (also in India). :D We just don't go very often because we often find that the movies aren't worth the $20 for us to see it in the theaters here in the States--we would have been better off just Netflixing them.

In any case, I think basically what he was asking was whether it was worth it to see this in the theater or is it one that can wait for DVD? If we do see it I've asked to go see it on my b-day in a couple of weeks. :D

And for all those Incredibles comments... I just have to say my favorite conversation in that movie is the one that begins with "Honey... Where is my super suit??" :D :D :D

Mater was awesome - probably one of the best characters, IMO.

I had my reservations about Cars though I knew Pixar wouldn't disappoint. Of course had to see it just to catch the preview for the next Pixar film. I have to say Ratatouille looks like it going be another Pixar hit (I loved that Paris skyline).

I'm taking my kids to the drive-in tonight to see this. I can't wait. I love pixar. :)

My order of favorite pixar movies:

Incredibles
Nemo
monsters inc.
Toy Story 1,2
bugs life.

It certainly helped dispel my initial reaction of "a movie about rats!?!" Looks promising.

Florifee and nbs2, some of the visuals are absolutely stunning, both in Cars and "One Man Band" which precedes it. Well worth seeing on a big screen. Heck if an IMAX version was available I'd consider that. (That and I'm sure I'll be treated to watching the DVD over and over again when its out, so I won't get to enjoy it as much.) If you're looking to save $, consider pre-buying tickets from Costco (or some other source) so you can go to the movies at night at matinee prices and save 25-30%.

Saw it opening day with my 3 yo son. Cant say I loved it but it was created with the same excellent quality you can expect from a pixar movie. Not Pixars best but not its worst either. My son wanted to leave 30 minutes before the ending so I will have to wait till the dvd to see what happens and the end credits.

I did my best to spot the "Pizza Planet truck" but with 2000 vehicles on the screen at one time this may prove to be the most difficult yet (still have yet to see any evidence at all that the truck was in the Incredibles at all...).

Loved the two frames that fly by with the birds from the short "for the birds" and a quick squeek.

Really liked how the bugs in the movie are teenie tiny Volkswagon beetles.

The remake of "Life is a Highway" is just horrible. Why fix whats not broken?

There is also a referance to James Dean and the silver Porsche he was killed in.

We've got even better... I got two movie passes from a friend last year for my b-day. We were going to use them to see Harry Potter originally, but then we found out that we have to wait two weeks from opening day to use the passes (we were already at the theater when we found that out). Blech. So we still have them and we've been looking for a movie that is worthy enough to use them on. The bonus of Cars is that the 14 day limitation will end on my birthday. :)

My 3 year old did too, so mom took him to the concession stand, but my 5y ear old made it through the whole thing. 2 hours is long for the little ones.

I missed the birds where were they? Lots of other tie-ins to other bits of Pixar world. Lightyear tires, Dinoco gasoline, ...

florifee, free is definitely better than "cheap" (if paying $7/pp for a bargain matinee can be considered cheap :( )

It was there. I saw it about 5 minutes after I remembered that it would probably be somewhere in the film. LOCATION SPOILER IN WHITE. SO DON'T QUOTE IT.

(if I remember correctly) It was on the main stage with the commentators in the pre-race for the final race.

EDIT: Did anyone see the birds on the telephone line; alluding to the Pixar short. I caught it, even though it was only a split-second. I laughed really hard, but no one else in the theater got it.

EDIT: It pays to read the posts. ***Shrinks back into the hole***

I thought it was a great movie...Not Pixar's best, but still excellent.

I loved Larry the Cable Guy, and the two Italian cars (one played by Tony Schaloob...not sure on the other one).

Had some good laughs, and it was quite...cute.

In the beginning of the film when he (Lightning) sets out across the country and they are showing the landscape pass by you will see about two frames of the birds sitting on a phone wire whiz by along with a familiar squeek. If you blinked you missed it. Those who actually caught it did so by accident, it was that quick.

Just got back from seeing 'Cars' with my eleven year old. I thought it was great! Pixar is so in touch with the children *and* the adults that are watching. One scene the main character Lightning McQueen was taking care of his sponsor before a race and there were a bunch of rusty old cars gathering around, very excited to meet the famous race car. It was almost like a rock concert. One of the cars in the background yelled "Freebird!" :p

Everything was just as you would expect it should be - even his agent was the voice of the agent in Entourage, and of course the Ferrari was Michael Schumacher. Lasseter is a genius :)

Just got back from seeing it, too. I thought it was excellent. Lots of funny lines. My son and I cracked up on the "Freebird" line, too. Another one, "I'm as happy as a tornado in a trailer park" got us going. As I'd mentioned earlier, I was leery because of all the year long hype, but it did not disappoint. Pixar's putting out some amazing stuff.

I liked Cars a lot, but not as much as I liked The Incredibles or Finding Nemo. In my opinion, Finding Nemo has been their crowning acheivement.

Now, I can't wait for Ratatouille. Directed by Brad Bird, the guy behind The Incredibles and Iron Giant. Go Pixar!

Pixar movies hit it on the mark IMO. So many lines that one can miss, so you either go a second time - or you wait till the DVD hits. But none of the lines missed makes the film loose out. :)

I sill have plans to see Cars in the next couple of weeks.

Ratatouille looks great too, after seeing the trailer. Amazing how CG has come along in such a short time. Thought in the first few seconds that it was a claymation type film (mixing real world with animation) - then the hand came in, and knew better.

When was this?
As you may or not know, James Dean was killed in 1955 while driving his tiny silver Porche 550 Spyder. the accident happend when an oncomming driver, blinded by the California sun reflecting off the glossy silver paint of Deans car crashed into him almost head on at full speed while trying to veer across traffic to a fork in the road.

There is a quick scene near the beginning of the movie where there is a character that is a silver Porche 550 Spyder. A few cars surrounding him shade their eyes from the glare of the sun reflecting off the paint.

I saw it this weekend. Plot-wise it was pretty good, but nothing special. But it was one of the funniest movies I have seen in a while. Lots of great laughs in that movie. I loved the tractor tipping. My 4 yr loved it too. THe next day he wanted o watch a movie and when we asked him which one he wanted to see, he said Cars.
