I wasn't aware the US product versions had English and French on the packaging like here in Canada. I assumed it'd usually just be English-only, or else English and Spanish. Or for international products, a whole bunch of different languages.

If it has an M1, yes.
The 10th generation iPad is very unlikely to get M1 (or M2).

It really just depends on the manufacturer and how many different packages they want to make. I've had stuff with 3 languages on it like English, Spanish and French (Spanish being more common than French from what I've seen).

We might not need stage manager at all.
Fixed size window inside fixed size screen is just too little.
Of course aliens might land somewhere and make that new tool more user friendly.
I ran one github app add check that turned out 82% on my ipad compared to 100% windows 10 with defender. If the selling point is security and privacy, then money spent on basic ipad must be enough. I know pc is not tablet.
Just maybe i am getting less for same cash.

I may get the cheapest iPad. I only use them for webex and FaceTime and streaming content so don’t need anything major.

Wish I was like that with other products but I tend to splash out on my iPhones haha

if they announce a deep purple iPad, I might lose it.

Apple reserves the "feature" of more than 2-3 finishes to the mid-tier iPad, iPad Air.

It's therefore far more likely to see the same or new variations of Silver and Space Grey and, conversely, highly unlikely to see any coloured finishes for the low-end iPad.

Specifically any variation on purple would be completely out of the question as both iPad mini and Air have purple finishes.

The only iPad with a potential to get a purple finish is iPads Pro M2, and then it would (most likely) match the Deep Purple we have for iPhones 14 Pro.

The most colourful the low-end iPad has ever gotten is gold and rosegold. And I actually think those finishes were only available before Apple introduced the multi-colored 4th Gen iPad Air.

Apple treats finishes as selling points, so I wouldn't expect to get them for what's essentially the iPad "SE".

Why the giant camera cutout? Why does it have cutouts for four speakers? If that really is the standard iPad, what's even the point of the Air then?
The point of the Air is 8GBs of RAM and M1 in a multitude of coloured finishes for the young demographic but minus most of the Pros specs.

-I highly doubt Apple is bumping up RAM and SoC on the new, low-end iPad while also giving it a new design.

More than 4GB RAM and M1 would push this way above $400 for just then entry-level and then it would kill most Air and Pro sales in a quick swoop. Not happening.

4GB RAM fits with A14, which makes sense considering 9th Gen has 3GB RAM and A13.

No way this gets to be on par with either 5th Gen Air or 6th Gen mini. No way.

I am not against the redesign. But why would Apple invest more money on a new design especially for the budget iPad when they can just reuse the 10.5-inch iPad Air design. With the redesign, I am pretty sure they will bump up the price. Many people really like the base iPad because of its affordability.

Because a company as big as this can surely redesign an entry iPad (which will basically be a watered down version of the Air) without it impacting the bottom line too much. Because the current iPad looks unbelievably ancient compared to literally anything else on the market. Also a company as big as Apple can eat the initial cost increase to get it into the hands of as many people as possible.

The R&D costs are pretty much already spent when they redesigned the Air and the Mini. The manufacturing changes is what perhaps is going to be the initial outlay. Again, Apple can eat this in the short run - because y’know that’s the cost of doing business.

They’re not doing YOU a favour by redesigning. People really need to start expecting more from companies.

You need to let go of that old thinking. Sure, there have been situations in the distant past where the entry-level model is of a lower standard, but not the past several years. (Note: Less SSD space does not mean it's a ****** device. Some users don't need lots of storage space, so why force them to pay for it?)
If you really think the 9th Gen is great value then it's either because you aren't considering the market value of most of its specs or aren't comparing it to iPads Pro.

Yes, compared to most other $329-$479 tablets, the low-end iPad is great value.

But for Apple, these low-end iPads costs next to nothing to make and are much higher profit margins than Air and Pro.

It's the same strategy for all of Apple's "SE" devices, Watch, iPhone, iPad (9th Gen) -they all are only "great value" because of the SoC. But the rest of the specs are very low value and outdated.

Makes sense to get rid of the home button - correct me if I'm wrong, but this is the last device with the touch ID home button, isn't it?
If they remove the headphone jack it will cause a lot of issues in the education market.
Have you ever tried managing a classroom set of Bluetooth headphones in a primary school? Using a USB-C or Lightning dongle is similarly unrealistic and prone to loss/damage.
Pretty easy to transition to USB C headphones, and it's not like these new iPads are going to replace all the existing iPads out there overnight.

With that logic, laptops should all still have VGA ports, serial ports and we should still have carbon paper around so typewriters would still have a purpose.

Times change.

Uh wut?!? For mainstream consumers, the regular iPads are most definitely the best value overall out of all of Apple's iPads.

We don't know what the margins are exactly on the regular iPads vs. the higher end models, but typically the analyst estimates have stated the higher end models have had higher margins than the lower end models, or else the margins have been similar. And even if the profit margin on a high end device were to be slightly lower in percentage terms, the absolute real profit on the high end device will be higher, because it's priced that much higher.

But that's besides the point, since for most people there's not much reason to pay OVER TWICE AS MUCH to get a device that does the exact same thing just with a few more bells and whistles. And I say that as an owner of an iPad Pro.

You had me at “landscape FaceTime camera.”

Yeah I hope so but I’ll believe when I see it.
I don’t think we necessarily need landscape cameras, a Magic Keyboard (and other keyboard stands) that supports portrait orientation would be even better. We should utilize the advantage of a tablet being able to be used in portrait.

I think most people would disagree with you, unless you're talking about portrait AND landscape mode.

In any case, I have zero interest in a portrait Magic Keyboard (unless it also supported landscape). And I would much, much rather have a landscape camera.
