I've been waiting to upgrade my 1G touch. A rear facing camera is the only feature I really want though a GPS would be nice too. I still don't understand why anybody would want FaceTime.

It's a portable iSight. Since FaceTime is wifi only, it would have the exact same functionality as the iPhone 4's FaceTime. Why wouldn't you want that? IMO a front camera is more likely than a back one.

Anyone else puzzled that the mockup
includes Flash? Considering that the iphone's sensor is too big, I don't see how it could fit.

personally i like the touch design curved as is, but since apple is apple they will most likely change it to look like the iphone. i think they should keep the curved back but make it a different material that doesnt show scratches because the one thing i see with the touch is SCRATCHES and i don't like that at all, the new iphone glass would be nice but it might be too expensive to make it that curved shape. also i wouldn't mind brushed aluminum as someone mention above.

The screen graphic is ancient and a placeholder, so no, no one thought it was odd. Just you.

Same placement as the iPhone.

And that's not a white iPod touch. That's an aluminum back (as opposed to current chrome).

There is nothing not believable about this rumor. I don't think the iPod touh can withstand another round sans camera. I mean if a nano has one...
And it's not far fetched to imagine it having an aluminum backside.

Even if a mockup, it's aligned with even modest expectations.

All that said, no holes for flash seems goofy. I can see that clear case illuminated by the flash and adversely effecting pictures.

Yeah, my thought too. In order for this to be a killer upgrade, I'd want to see the front and rear cameras, retina display, and 128G of space. If Apple does that, I'm there. If not, I'll stick to the old one. A rear camera just isn't worth the upgrade.

No, from Apple's perspective is more like... the iPhone will always be superior so if I as a consumer want the superior product (with GPS, higher res cam, etc) I must pay monthly homage to their ATT buddies 😡😡😡

I'd be interested in a 64GB model if it looked like that with all of the iPhone 4 features sans 3G.

The products have existed for 3 years and have clearly defined themselves as being different individuals, with totally different demographics.

Today its more important for them to be similar, than further differentiated. There is a big enough difference between the two products with 2 year/$100 a mon service, and none.

Yes, because the iPod Touch has always been totally in line with the iPhone. 🙄 And exactly how do you accomplish that without making the Touch much thicker than it is now? When has Apple ever intentionally made a product thicker? They're obsessed with things getting thinner.
