The only problem with that, On the Cases on the top left, It looks to be a Sim Card slot.
So? Apple makes the iPad with 3G. With consoles like the PS Vita having 3G version, it's not in the realm of impossibility that Apple will make a 3G iPod Touch.

Even though it was taken down so early, they could have just wanted to keep the masses from criticizing them. Or it could be accurate, who knows. Apple has done an A+ job this year at keeping there products under veil

I wouldn't give them an A+... iPad 2 mockups were released over a month before it was actually announced and some were very spot on, plus a iPhone prototype was stolen at a bar again, plus if these mockups are true, then...

Just wanted to chime in about the "N94" parts. Those parts are EVT1 parts, which is the very first prototype. It's likely that to help speed up the prototyping process, they mounted the iphone 5 lcd + digitizer in the same old style glass, and put the iphone 5 parts in a similar (but modified) iphone 4 housing.

Most EVT products use old product designs, for example, the first gen macbook EVT models used the powerbook design & shared parts with it.

Rumors, rumors, rumors. No one knows what the phone will look like and most likely these cases are for the next gen IPod. Black side buttons? Black buttons on a silver backing?? Wouldn't look great.

Yep, everyone has it backwards, this is the new design iPod Touch and the N94 is the new iPhone

Iphone 5 vs ipod touch - which one would be worth the case developers' time, money, risk & efforts for advanced r&d investment? Think about it.

iPod Touch & Rendor

Them pics on the bottom are just iPod touch shells that have been tweeked and the top ones are mock ups. sorry case mate you haven't sold it to me your just editing pictures from what the factory in china sent you.

We've published a number of articles about iPhone 5 cases suggesting that the device will be significantly wider but thinner than the iPhone 4, but most of those cases have been sourced from relatively low-profile Asian suppliers so far. As noted by BGR, larger U.S. companies such as Case-Mate are now getting into the picture with their own cases based on the same rumored design.

Case-Mate earlier today posted a number of different iPhone 5 case designs, only to quickly pull the page as it began to receive publicity. The cases seem to show the same rounded and tapered profile of other iPhone 5 cases, along with the mute switch being move from the left side of the device to the right side.

Concrete evidence for a redesigned iPhone 5 has been surprisingly scant, with case designs being essentially the only sign of such a revamp. Meanwhile, a number of parts have been surfacing for Apple's "N94" iPhone that is based on the iPhone 4 design and has been informally referred to as the iPhone 4S. Consequently, doubts have been raised about whether the redesigned form factor will actually be making an appearance, with supply chain checks reporting no sign of the device and only the iPhone 4S entering production.

It is difficult to point to Case-Mate's posting as further proof of an imminent redesigned iPhone 5, as the cases are likely based on the same leaked design document used by Asian manufacturers, a document whose authenticity has been called into question given the lack of supporting evidence for such a device. But it is interesting to note that even relatively major U.S.-based case manufacturers are investing in designs for cases based on this form factor.

Rocker placement looks very iPad 2-ish. I think we've reached fever-pitch on these rumors. Time to announce the thing apple.
Come on people. It doesn't look iPad 2-ish! The iPad 2 looks like the first generation iPhone, and so does this phone  . Credit where credit due my fellow Apple zealots.

Possible reason for extra opening in case?

What could the extra opening in the case be for? A virtual/physical shutter button? Something to do with the rumored inductive charging?

Sorry if this has been already discussed. I didn't have the time to go through all the expanses of this thread.

People are guessing it's the SIM card slot.

uh, SIM card slot?

Thanks. I thought of that as well, but I am yet to meet someone with an iphone 4 case with an opening for the SIM card slot. Just doesn't seem too likely to me- how many times a day does a regular person switch SIMs?

If the charging is truly inductive, why would you need an open space on the case?

I've seen them. Never bought one, but I've seen them.

If it actually has wireless charging, you can throw out the return of the aluminum back.

The front is glass, and there is already new technology called Wireless resonance charging.
The device (iPhone) does not have to be in contact with the transmitter so I say even when it has a Metal back it will still work.

I agree. And calling it "Wireless" is not quite right, because it's only the last few inches that are wireless. You still have a wire to the charing pad and you need to put your device on the pad. It can be more convenient to throw your phone on a pad than slip it into a dock, but not a whole lot more convenient and you need more space.

It's most useful when you want to seal the device.

Not true.
It is wireless.
And have you ever heard of resonance charging.

Not sure if anyone has mentioned this...

I am not sure if anyone had mentioned this, and I don't have time to browse eleven pages of comments, so I am just going to say it...
those cases look suspiciously 1st generation iPod Touch-ish, especially when considering how the shape of the gap in the upper left of the back side of the case would almost perfectly fit the wireless antenna on the old Touch. Seems to me like the case manufacturer may of had some old renderings of 1st gen touch cases lying around, saw the new mockups of the iPhone 5, noted the similarity in the contouring on the back, and decided to make some mockups of their own for publicity.

Case-Mate is legit. They are one of the biggest and most respected case makers in the world. They aren't going to risk looking like fools to make consumers happy with speculation.

You are dead wrong. If anything this story should be looked at as the first sign of legit proof that the next step for the iPhone is a 4S and 5 model. And the fact that they are providing (us) with this info clinches many rumors we've been reading about lately.

So when you have a potential 1 BILLION subscribers of the iPhone 4 coming in the next months, Apple will be glad to bend over and kiss anyones combined butts with a 700 million to 1 Billion potential subscribers.

China has 1.4 billion people so you say half of them are potential buyers, no way, maybe 10% of them can afford one,the rest is too poor to even buy anything.
