Rocker placement looks very iPad 2-ish. I think we've reached fever-pitch on these rumors. Time to announce the thing apple.

I am not shocked at all to learn of a MAJOR update coming in the iPhone5, they needed too. I have turned onto Android couple years ago, last iPhone for me was the slow and choppy 3G. But phones like the Nexus-One and Samsung Galaxy S2 are really good products. Plus Apple taking an extra 4 months longer than the usual 12 month release cycle, would lead me to think they have a big revision planned for this generation.

If the iPhone5 truly does have a 4" screen, and wireless charging, plus the already known new "notification" system in iOS5, this will be the one iPhone to bring me back.

Also they seem pretty confident when talking about the design, idk if thats just just to sell more hypothetical cases or not but

"The new iPhone 5 will feature a completely different form factor than its predecessor. Wider and thinner, the redesigned device features an extended home button. The screen size could see an increase to 4 inches.

Also included in the iPhone 5 will be an A5 dual-core processor, similar to the one used in the iPad 2. It will also be equipped with an 8 mega-pixel camera, wireless charging and iOS 5, which features iCloud portable storage capabilities."

regardless, this makes it much more interesting and also with the above comment about the conference!

Anyone have any knowledge or guesses about this wireless charging? I'm very interested as I haven't heard about it previously.

This is HUGE news, and Case-Mate leaked it too early most likely;

Apple will be indeed launching both an iPhone 5 and an iPhone 4S in early October. The iPhone 4S will feature the same form factor as the iPhone 4 but will be upgraded with the latest technology, including the A5 dual-core processor and 8 mega-pixel camera.

WHY didn't Apple move the flash farther away from the lens?! Now we will still continue to get pictures that appear that someone is at a fireworks show!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Note that the URL from case-mate appears to reference both iPhone 5 and iPhone 4S.

Ok, upon reading their updated page, it sounds like case-mate might be pulling all of this out of their asses. When they start referening 'inside sources' they sound like a poor version of MOSR instead of a company ready to ship product.

I was trying to post in the other thread but they closeded it! :)

i was thinking it seems its all based on prior rumors reports and those are just test mock-ups. That has me a little doubtful.

If you get past that then the new iphone 5 was just reveled!

Well, case-mate just got themselves a hell of a lot of free publicity...

I am sometimes wondering if a certain company just leaks a bit of information to a company so that they can go ahead and create lets say new covers just to stir excitement... Nothing better then that and its for free!

would it be totally out of line to say that all these iphone 5 design rumors could actually be the new ipod touch? i mean, they look EXACTLY like the current ipod touch models, with the exception of being slightly bigger. wouldn't this design for an iphone 5 be a step backwards?

Who's to say that the new iPhone 5 and the new iPod Touch won't be the exact same design, just one won't have ability to make calls? Just look at the iPad Wi-Fi and the iPad Wi-Fi + 3G.

C'mon MR -- Case Mate isn't working off leaked Chinese documents. Their stuff is top-shelf, sold at the Apple Store itself. I'd bet significant sums of money that they have access to all details of the iP5 right now from Apple (possibly an empty shell or 3 in addition to the specs) to ensure a robust ecosystem of iP5 products at or near launch.

This is the real deal, IMO.

If it actually has wireless charging, you can throw out the return of the aluminum back.

So far we have iPhone 5 parts/cases/camera/screen protector..come on someone put it all together already I want to see the iPhone 5 already :D oh by the way I don't like that plastic volume buttons I hope it's aluminum buttons like iPhone 4 don't like plastic parts on a sexy phone..As for cases I don't really rock cases much on my iPhone

Wireless charging has been discussed before in this forum and others, however it does not appear to be a likely feature to be added to the next-generation handset thus the current lack of discussion.

The most likely upgrades are: dual-core A5 SoC (including improved graphics), dual-mode cellular chip (GSM/CDMA, probably the Qualcomm Gobi chip that's in the CDMA iPhone 4) with a network speed bump to HSPA+ (14Mbps download), improved camera. Possibly more main memory and more storage capacity. These are the feature improvements that would benefit the majority.

Wireless charging basically requires a specialized pad which is bulkier than the dock connector cable and the current AC charger. Wireless charging would have to provide some sort of improvement to the end user and I don't really see a strong case for it at this point. It's more of a novelty than a real-world feature enhancement.

Ahaaaa,
I have an idea, I believe this is the new iPod Touch, because if you notice, they NEVER show you the front, they just show the back,
So yupppp, its the iPod Touch 5th Generation

Why would they show the front since its a case for the back?

I brought this up a second ago in the other thread about how Macworld Asia is mentioned..

I think it's going to be very likely that we see the unveiling there..

Well, not if tradition has anything to say about it. That, and has an iPhone ever launched in China at the same time as the US launch, which is inevitably first? Heck, has it ever launched outside North America the same day as the US launch?

So, not to perpetuate a over-pushed rumor (but I am anyway)... LTE iPhone 5?

http://www.engadget.com/2011/09/15/atandt-to-officially-deploy-its-lte-network-september-18th/

Timeframe seems to be in line, just in time for an LTE iPhone 5.

Doubt it, not ready yet. ATT will only have like 5 cities, and Verizon has more, but still not anywhere near the entire country yet. And Sprint hasn't moved to LTE yet, they will 2nd Qtr next year.

For sure the iPhone6 will be LTE, that will be Apple's big selling point on the i6.

Its really amazing how many Android posts you have here.

Liquid metal!

Is still conductive. Which means it wouldn't work as the casing would act as a shield to the inductor on the inside of the phone trying to receive power. It's possible you could have two rubberized parts, one for cellular antenna and one for inductive charging, on the back, but that seems to defeat the purpose.
