I only have front and back protectors ... No case..... I still don't just lay my phone down anywhere though

I've been case-less/screen protector less for probably 85% of the time I've owned my iPhone 4 and 4s.

Whenever I set it down, I attempt to place it on something. Even if it's just a piece of paper. There are occasions when there's nothing there, but they are rare. I'd say maybe once every 2 weeks will I place it down directly on another hard surface.

I have zero scratches on my phones from doing this. The only scratch I ever got on my iPhone 4 was when I dropped it out of my car while exiting. It slid across a parking space. There was only one extremely faint scratch on the glass from that. So it's pretty tough. The aluminum banding took the brunt of the damage/force though.

I've gone naked since the original iPhone. Yes, placing it down on surfaces will result in scratches on the back surface. The front screen on my phone is flawless though.

when I bought my iphone 4s, I let him naked. I agree with the fact that the screen is Binne quality and resists scratches well. But the first drop, the rear window was completely broken. Since I use a bumper and a back protector screen guard

Misread this as "Careless iPhone users enter!" and thought it was ironic that everyone was talking about cases :D

I did too! I was at the bottom of the first page thinking if these people are careless I'm in a league all of my own.

I use a case and screen protector, I'm around accidents waiting to happen all day...I can't risk it.

I had dropped my first AT&T 64GB white iPhone after two weeks and ended up selling it to someone here on MR. It had a small nick out of the camera corner wrapping the glass. It had slipped off my bed and landed on something on the carpeted floor below.

I bought a new 64GB white iPhone on Verizon in January and still refused to put a case on it. I dropped it on a hard tiled floor and got an almost identical nick on it on the plastic surrounding the corner on the top right this time. Glass still didn't break. I still don't have a case on it. If I break the glass, i'll get it repaired. If I break the phone, I'll pay the $199 and get a new one. Not too worried.

4-s, no case, plenty of drops onto concrete/tiles and so far it is ok. i have a little chunk out of the plastic on the edge and marks to the stainless band, but its all good.

as to the camera lens on the back.... you'll note that it is surrounded with a metal ring which keeps it slightly off a flat surface..

and yes, i dislike cases as they make the phone look bad, don't slip into my pocket as well and make the device feel less pleasant to use :)

That's all I use, with no screen protectors, my first iphone was a 3GS and I never used a case or anything with it.

Nude is so sexy

I enjoy the extra protection provided by a cover. But on the occasions when I remove it to clean the bare phone, I am reminded just how slim and sexy it is all by itself.

Sorry but iPhone users in this forum could spot a stuck pixel from across the room so a scratch is a scratch.

There is no doubt that tossing your naked iPhone on a table or other surface will result in scratches. Anyone who say, after a year or so, that they have no scratches doing this is in denial!

Haha very well said. Ocd is common around here I see.

I guess LIAR would be a better description but we do not want to ruffle any feathers.

Very true. I have lurked for a while on here and it seems the mods and many of the members have very thin skin. I can imagine the second you criticize any one or anything here they're hitting the report button. Oh well, I guess if I want to talk smack or be sarcastic I'll do that on mmi.

I use the book book wallet when I leave the house, but with my 4s I've been going without a case period and not worrying a bit. I do have a clear protector on the front but the back...honestly, if it scratches, it's easily replaced with any number of nice back plates including the OEM one for very cheap dollars, so I could care less.

holster for caseless

I want to go case less, but I like a belt holster. Anyone know of a good one?

I use it, put it down on tables, whatever.

It's a phone and meant to be used, back glass replacement is cheap as dust (front glass not so much).

The camera lens won't scratch because it's recessed. I have quite a few hair scratches and a few deep ones on the back but the camera is and will continue to be fine.

Interestingly, I have dropped it couple of times onto hard tiles from hand height (I'm 6'6/2m tall) and not a speck.

Reading some of your replies it seems like such a PIA using it caseless and babying it around, carrying a napkin with your all the time and always watching where you put it.

I say either go caseless, and use it and enjoy it without worrying about it, or use a case and don't worry about it.

I personally prefer using a lightweight, thin case like Incipio Feather.
