Your magic mouse suddenly costs 119.98, with a wire. The beauty of magic mouse is that it is plain and simple, a wireless mouse and absolutely nothing else. I always have an additional pair of rechargeable batteries charged that I swap whenever the mouse's batteries run out. I'd rather swap once every two months, than having a wire, pay an additional 49.99, additional desk clutter, and having to place it there daily for it to be any useful. Junk in my opinion. I now have one less thing on my desk, and a pair of batteries ready to be swapped away from sight inside a drawer.

Don't you have a wire going to your battery charger?

I don't understand what the fuss is about. Doesn't the Bluetooth menu give the percentage of battery left on the Magic Mouse? It does for the keyboards and trackpad. Plus, they warn you onscreen when getting low. That's my signal to charge the batteries that night.

I'd love Atari to port Defender over to the iCade kit.

All the old Williams IP is in a totally screwed up suspense account after they declared bankruptcy. This will be a while.

But yes, what was a joke became a product. So Valley!

You don't need to plug and unplug the mouse itself, nor will you ever run out of batteries. There's nothing more nauseating than having to go down to the store and pick up a fresh pack of batteries because the last pair you had at home just died.

I have rechargeables, and it saves me more money then buying into this product. Besides I dislike the MagicMouse and I am not the only one who agrees. :)

I got the Magic Charger for Christmas...it's great. Works like a charm and I will never buy batteries for this mouse again!

I really don't understand the negative attitude towards the magic charger in this forum, the charger is brilliant.
Instead of the hassle of swapping batteries all the time you just place the mouse on the charging pad when you leave your computer and you always have a good charge when using it.

And comments like "one more cable"!? The charger is stationary, it can't be compared to having a cable on the mouse itself. I've never understood why people think it's so much trouble with having cables on stationary devices.

This charger is brilliant innovation, just the kind of innovation I would expect from Apple, and I'm pretty sure that if it had been Apple making this most of you would cheer loudly. I mean, people here even got excited about the Apple battery charger

That said, I must say that I myself am never going to use the Magic mouse (or any mouse that Apple has made), it's just to flat and uncomfortable. I like being able to rest my entire palm on the mouse. I use a Logitech G5 right now, it's still a bit to small

Figure $55 after tax. That will buy more Duracells than you can carry. Three thumbs down on another techno gadget I DO NOT need !

So i went and brought the apple battery charger the other day, it seems they last no less than 4 weeks per pair depending on how i use it, why would i go spending that sort of money on this inductive charger? i get that its so u can always be charged but for ALOT less money i can just swap the batteries with full ones and charge the flat ones separately in 3 hours? POINTLESS

Cause its SUCH a hassle to change batteries once every 1-2 months. Ughhh

Now that almost sounds like a Dell/HP/etc apologetic defense. Apple is all about keeping it simple for the user with clever solutions and this brilliant piece of innovation is more Apple than any product Apple have introduced since the magsafe connector. The only wierd thing about the magic charger is that it's not an Apple product

iCad is COOL!! Now if they could make a version with a spin knob so I can play Tempest!!!

I'd love to see Apple implement the Magic Charger into the foot of the iMac, so you just put your keyboard and mouse on the foot where it stands to recharge when the computer is not in use.

New features + no visible changes to the exterior design of it.

I use to play those Pacman arcade games late at night when leaving diners.
I was usually pretty ***** up. I also was very bad at it. But I managed to at least not get ill all over it (I don't think).

Now I can buy one and pretend I still do drugs and drink.

Oh joy :)

Your entire desk could become an inductive charger. You would then charge your laptop, your mouse, your phone by simply placing them on the desk.

yes, veeery good! do you know that a permanent inductive field could cause cancer? so you have your cool imac 2020 with inductive desk, and a few years later you need chemo therapy. but hey, you didn't have a chord on your mouse! whow!

i hope you are aware of the fact that apple changed their mouse about 5 times since 1998. so the mouse evolution will continue, and you can trash your charger soon too.

btw: why does it need induction? i bought a wireless mouse 10 years ago and it had a craddle in which you could refill the battery. the whole mouse cost about 30 euro back then, when i calculate the magic mouse for 50 euro plus the inductive base we have 100 euro / 129 us$. which MOUSE is worth so much money? 129 us$ for a mouse!?!

I like the iCADE!! Actually, are there more of those mini arcade machines available? I mean, without the need of an iPad? (aka cheaper)

Could someone explain why I should care about inductive charging? Yes you can set your device - and charge it wirelessly!!! - except for the cord plugging in the charger. It accomplishes nothing. When I can plug a device into the socket that can transmit power across the room to my device, call me.

There's not much to explain. Some hate wires and all sorts of docks on the desk, some don't mind at all. Actually, as suggested earlier, it makes more sense to use Wacom's tablet with mouse/stylus. There's no battery in that and drains less power than the inductive charger and magic mouse combined. For road-warriors the only downside could be that a Wacom mouse always needs its tablet (so more to carry).
Anyway... don't expect someone calling about wireless power soon. Currently there's no way of sending power efficiently and economically over a large space without some sort of conductor (the wire). More on this on wiki

Gotta love those gaming usb wired mouse, without those fancy gimmicks, I can't possibly use magic mouse it's way uncomfortable:( and I don't give a crap on multi-touch in a mouse.
They could sell magic trackpads without batteries. To bad macs are always short in usb ports:mad:

thats the price i got charged from pixmania, order placed 21/12/10. apparently the price has gone up

The VAT increase on 04/01/11 for starters  Strange how 2.5% equates to 5-10% in some retailers eyes.... But then there are overheads to consider in the rise as well, not just the cost of the goods. Thanks Dave!

Why bother charging anything? Just use the induction to power the mouse directly.

Someone else mentioned a desk. Same thing. Pile your mouse, keyboard and magic track pad onto the top of your desk and done.

No batteries. Wireless power.

The iCade looks good...sort of. I wish we could see more of the games and the device. This video is pretty lame. If it came with tons of popular games instead of just Atari, it would be hot stuff.

how is the magic mouse charger powered? USB or do you need an outlet?

It needs 4 AA batteries... j/k.
No idea.
