I have two 27" screens and I find that I end up using either the left or right screen as it's too wide and you can't put windows in the middle (obviously). Two 27" is the equivalent of a 49" ultrawide which I would say is too wide for general use. I'm debating whether to go for 38"/40" ultrawide or just a large 16:9 monitor (40"/42").
I certainly don’t try and use them at the same time (in terms of looking at stuff on both at exactly the same time). But I have stuff on both (and on the laptop screen too) and don’t tend to move the windows between them. Slack, Mail, calendar on the right, working docs/code editor on the left and notes/task list on the laptop

The LG is probably a fine display, however it is not 27", plus I don't believe it quite reaches the specs for the iMac display:

24" vs 27"
4K vs 5K
3840x2160 vs 5120x2880

At least the PPI is in the neighborhood at ~184 compared to ~219 for the iMac 4K/5K. When you go to 3840x2160 at 32" the PPI drops to 140 and I find that to be too fuzzy (especially when I have a Retina display next to it).

As Basic75 mentions up-thread, the ~100-100dpi displays (like my Asus ROG Swift PG279Q secondary QHD display) at least doesn't look fuzzy to me, even it is not "sharp" like my iMac 5K display.

I see it not as a 4K display with more pixels on either side, instead it is a 5K screen (such as the iMac one I am currently looking at) with pixels missing at the top and bottom.

I would rather see more vertical height (great for coding, word processing, browsing many websites, etc.) I'd love a large 3:2 ratio screen, as seen on the Microsoft Surface Studio.

Use a regular widescreen in portrait mode. Then you'll have lots of vertical space. It's excellent in that orientation for the tasks you mention.

i'm happy with my 49 inch Dell U4919DW but i think on this new one 144ppi are not a big step up from 109ppi VS the twice in price. Hmmm... 🧐 More vertical space are great, but i wish they had at least 220ppi - that will be the reason to pay so much for it - not in this case. (i think) 🤔

Look what silly me have to get by with from work, hey, at least it made 400K for the company😆 and the cumbersome web app that spawns two separate windows, not to mention the other I need to keep open: Excel, Teams. It’s a headache just to multi task: constant Alt + Tab, resizing Windows, manually cascading Windows.

We really don’t know how good we have it when you can even get something that’s 20 inches.

Yeah, but those monitors will outlive us all.

Isn’t that the LG Ultrafine 27”?
Nobody makes monitors

It's not just a question of having fewer pixels but the fact that the PPI is different means you have to scale up 1.?X to display macOS, which looks like crap.

LG 32" 4k with 98% DCI-P3 are about $400.

So I can buy 4 of those and still save money. (I have two)
End up with way more screen area and pixels.
These fancy curved just aren't remotely practical.

I have the 32 inch 4k LG ultra fine and its too wide to do any work on. I end up putting windows in the middle. The PPI makes me desire more. I'll wait for the new iMac with AS. everything else is half baked and im tired of buying monitors.
I haven’t used a super wide monitor, but having using a primary display and second over to the right for years, I would have to agree with you.

You will get more pixels, more PPI, at a much lower cost with 2 screens vs this setup. You can also put one app in full screen mode while the other monitor isn’t, which is very useful when watching something while working, or using a PDF for reference while working, etc.
