No idea, probably become neurotic about software that does not take advantage of it. My closest app is in noise reduction in audio, but none of my current software uses even one of the 16 cores of the neural engine. Probably within my 10 year replacement schedule, a use will be found. Maybe...

It's removeable (magnetic). It's also 4k so probably looks better than the Apple one.

The marketing says 4K but it’s likely just UHD, i.e. 3840x2160 rather than 4096x2160. But both of those are lower resolutions than 12 megapixel (ASD), they’re somewhere between 8 and 9 megapixel.

The reason the ASD camera looks fuzzy is that they take a relatively small crop of the frame and pan it around for Center Stage.

35+ inches, please. I need lots open and my old eyes need bigger stuff. Until then, I’ll stick with my 40” Samsung 4K - have 2, one for home and one for work.

40" is awesome but at the same time its the ppi thats important.
Honestly, 4K 40" must be too blurry unless you are quite far from it

I want the Dell 6K to launch. That *could* get me to consider a change from the ASD, but likely not.

I would love to get the Dell too but in another form without the camera monster. I'd assume that later this year maybe Dell will release that but we shall see. Price will be huge factor though

Dell 6K has 2000:1 contrast ratio so you get the same pixel density as the 1000:1 ASD but in a more advanced panel.

I mostly care about ppi and size. Lets hope Dell prices it in a way that us mortals can afford it

Where are these monitors on sale? The Samsung 5ka nd Dell 6k?
I assume that both have not been released yet.

But what worries me is that these monitors don't take advantage of the Displayport 2.0 standard. It would be easy to offer a 6K monitor with 120Hz+, but in order not to lose too many potential buyers, these monitors are also offered for HDMI 2.1, but there the bandwidth is no longer sufficient for 6K with 120Hz.

I suspect that only with Thunderbolt 5 (and then pushed by Apple) new displays with 6k, 7k, 8k and more than 120Hz will come. Until then, unfortunately, we have to wait (certainly 2-3 years). That's why I don't know if I should buy the 6K Dell this year, and I'm not convinced by the matte coating. I love glossy!

I’m 18” from it. It looks great to me. I had two 22” monitors that were blurry. My eyes are much happier now.

4K on 40" is 110ppi which is pixelated like crazy. You may not care but for the distance its just very poor especially in today's standards.

But if you don't care then good for you. I would probably sit further away.

Not sure what those 22" monitors were that you had before but I'm sure once you try +-220ppi you just can't go back :)

I see no difference between 185 ppi and 220 ppi, both equally sharp.

163 ppi (4K 27 inch) is worse though.

185ppi is already fairly high, what monitor is it?

Her case was huge 40" tv which is pretty much useless if you sit close by like she does.

Something not mentioned much is that it seems technically harder to manufacture a 27 inch panel with as good backlight uniformity and contrast ratio as a 24 inch panel. The LG Ultrafine 24 inch has 1200:1 contrast ratio, and excellent uniformity, the ASD is worse in both respects.

It would be interesting to see if Samsung has improved on this, assuming they are using a BOE panel rather than the same LG panel that Apple uses.
