The first few days after buying my 3gs i had it in an incase slider case. It felt bulky and didn't look bad but it didn't seem all that special.

So i decided to go naked and i have never looked back since. The phone looks much more smaller and sleeker. Im not afraid to get scratches or knicks in the glass because phones were meant to be used not treated as collectors items unless your into that kind of stuff.

I bought my first iphone used and it already had a few scratches on the back so it was no big deal and never had it in a case. I would put it in my pocket along with coins and keys at times. It suffered a few scratches but was fine.

Now that I have bought a brand new 3Gs I seem to baby it more and have a case and not use to the bulk of it now. I kind of like the case though since it does not slide around on my passenger car seat when driving.

I am sure I will get rid of the case and go bare at some point though.

Some of you have to keep in mind that some people don't put their iPhones in cases in fear that they will get scratched, but rather in fear that they might BREAK when they fall. I mean, one entire side of the phone is glass. So the point that some cases scratch the iPhone isn't always relevant.

my problem is putting on the damn screen protector....its SO hard to do without getting something under there!

HOLY CRAP....

Am I reading this correctly lol, it's a frigging phone that's all it is, nothing more nothing else, mine is sitting facedown on my desk charging as we speak <i can hear people crying>, it gets abuse and it loves the abuse, it is 3 months old and has a few scratches on the back but I use it tons treat it like crap and I have dropped all my phones tons of times, only cracked 1 screen on a N95-8gb but i was using it as a torch to look inside a server i was working on, then put the server down on top of it.

Please treat your phones like crap, they will love you for it, then when the new one comes out it's all nice and clean looking. YOU WILL DROP your phone if you treat it like a baby, treat it like **** and it will last a lifetime :)

Anyone who buys an iphone thinking about resell value needs their heads examining, it's YOUR phone, put it in your pocket, jingle it with your coins and car keys screen protectors suck ass, the screen is supposed to get oily so your fingers slide nice.

Lastly....ENJOY your iphone, it's not a penis so does not need a jacket.

This is what I use:

When I need to use it I just slide it out of the pouch. It's very slim.

I just use a shield case on mine, and I wouldn't even do that if the iPhone wasn't so gawdamnawful slippery.

I was really hoping that the 3GS would have the matte finish case that we saw floating around a month ago, but since they decided that they like getting to resell these things when someone breaks them they kept the phone super glossy and slippery.

after i found out about cracks on my 3g i took it out of the case... then i swapped it to red and put an invisibleshield on it... took that off recently and the iphone without a case sure is the best way to go IMO

This is kind of why I use this: http://www.case-mate.com/iPhone-3G-Cases/Case-Mate-IPH3GBT.asp

The Apple logo is still visible and it adds next to no bulk. It can even still dock in most docks.

Basically, I have it on to protect the back from getting scratched when I put it on a desk or table.

I love it.

I just ordered this case, can't wait till it gets here. I've never use a case before so I really hope it doesn't add any weight to it.

It's exactly the same as the "shield" case that you can get in a variety of colors on Amazon for about $5.

$20? Yikes.

I recently found out that cases scratch the bezel and leave marks on the back. I have a Noel from More. Ditched the mirror screen protector. The case is OK, but I didn't expect it to mark up the bezel or back so much. Dust/dirt gets inbetween and then leaves marks as it gets imprinted in the plastic back..

I just upgraded from the 3G to the 3GS.

The whole time I had the 3G, I never took it out of the case. It is pristine. But for what? because I don't use it anymore. It's almost like I kept it really nice for the next person to use. But never enjoyed it myself.

So today I took my 3GS out of the case (slider). Gosh this thing is really gorgeous. Really amazing to look at.

I am keeping the screen protector on, but for now, I am going case-less.

Anyone care to take up the challenge?

My 2G I just sold on friday never saw a case in the 2 years I had it. I must say I enjoyed the phone and being a person that before iphone constantly upgraded and sold old phones it was nice for a change to enjoy phone rather then focus on keeping new for better resale value.

You know what happened though. I enjoyed phone so much that after all the scratches on the back and such I wanted to get a case just to not have to look at beat up phone anymore. Other then online though I didn't see any 2G cases locally so just kept it naked.

3GS went straight from wrapping to case. I think I will keep in the inslider. No screen protector though.

After two years that was the only mint part on my 2G

For some reason the glass on the 2G seemed to be much more scratch resistant than the 3G.

I went naked with both my 2G and 3G but I opted to get a Rebel Serpent case for the 3GS - I like it thus far but I may switch back to naked, there's just something about holding the iPhone without a case...

Well.

I got mine for $15 at a booth at the mall where I got my phone.

And considering I have had to suffer through three different episodes of Credit Card Fraud, I would rather not put my credit card number on a web site.

Even one as reputable as Amazon.

It's not so much the scratches that I worry about, it's the one fatal drop that worries me. I've had many devices since throughout the years and i've dropped them at least once, and a case has always helped. This phone is so damn expensive to replace, I'd be hard pressed to get another one if I broke it. A case for this device is a necessity IMO.

I've gone caseless for months, but today I had just purchased the Mophie Juice Pack Air. It's really nice actually. It is a bit chunky, but it feels great in your hand. I'll probably go caseless again, unless I drop it and the whole thing shatters before my eyes.

Whatever floats your boat. I've made literally hundreds of online purchases and have never once had my CC compromised.
