You could still use the MyQ app to control your garage door if you're away and don't have an Apple TV or iPad at home, but the Home app and Siri would not do anything.

Right. At the moment I use HomeBridge with the original Liftmaster wired bridge, so I have full HomeKit capability even before switching. But I have a Mac mini I use as a server running 24/7 that handles this. Been flawless.

For me, there was a period a few months back where the MyQ web API that the HomeBridge plugin uses was sometimes returning an unexpected result and it would crash all of HomeBridge. That was a frustrating few weeks for me. lol

Has anyone figured out how to disable the loud beeping sounds from the myq bridge when the door is closing?

If it’s like my Liftmaster, it’s not the bridge. It’s the opener issuing a warning to occupants to watch out, since you could be nowhere nearby and closing the garage.

My situation is that I do not have a strong enough WIFI signal in my garage, because it is in another building and over 150 feet away. The old solution would be to have the MyQ Internet Gateway connected to my router in the house and MyQ Wall Control Panel in the garage. The Gateway communicates with the Control Panel by radio frequency, therefore the distance and walls between my home and garage are not a problem. Chamberlain states that the new Home Bridge replaces the Internet Gateway. The problem is that I don't believe it replaces all the capabilities of the Gateway, in that it requires a strong WIFI signal in the garage. I have seen some documentation that the new Home Bridge still uses radio frequencies, so I am a little confused about the maximum range required between the Home Bridge and Wall Control Pad. If I could locate the new Home bridge in the house near my WIFI router and still be able to have it communicate with the Wall Control Pad in the garage, that would solve my problem. Does anyone have experience with this and have the answers?

It's does replace the gate the way i unplugged my gateway, the MyQ is right next to my router, to solve your wifi issues maybe a cheap wifi extender

A WIFI Extender won't work for my situation. To place the extender closer to the garage, it would have to be outside or in someone else's home.

You said your MyQ (I assume you mean the MyQ Home Bridge) is right next to your router. Is your router in the garage, because my understanding is that it has to be installed close to the opener?

Nope it's in the office about 50ft away

So, it sounds like the MyQ Home Bridge needs to be close to the WIFI router and not necessarily close to the MyQ control pad. Is that correct? I am thinking that the Home Bridge may communicate with the controller via radio signal and could be sitting a long way away from the garage as long as it is within WIFI range. Could that be the case?

I honestly don't know I have multiple access points within my house

Are you using the MyQ 888LM or the equivalent Chamberlain MyQ Wall Control pad as your MyQ Garage enabler or do you have a MyQ enabled opener?

I guess I will just have to try it and see what the maximum rage between the Home Bridge and garage is, unless you would be willing to try moving the bridge further away from the garage (but still within WIFI range) to see if it still functions normally.

I'm using a Liftmaster 8500 garage opener I was using a 828LM internet gateway

Looks like they are back in stock for anyone that was waiting for them.
Thanks, just order one and was disappointed to see shipping was $14! Total cost with tax $67.86.

I also talked to technical support and they assured me the range of the MyQ Home Bridge is 300 feet and therefore, it does not have to be located in the garage, just somewhere within WIFI range.

They only shipped mine ups ground

Well, here is the scoop. As I have posted earlier, my WIFI signal in the garage, which is in a separate building, was so week I couldn't even get to the internet via WIFI, or connect for that matter. I purchased the MyQ garage wall control (888LM) and the new MyQ Home Bridge. In hooked up and mounted the 888LM in the garage and then I set up the Home Bridge using the MyQ app in my house over 150 feet away from my garage. The app recognized the bridge, I selected it as a new device and then linked it by scanning the code. The app asked me to add my MyQ device, the 888LM Wall control in the garage, and I walked out to the garage with the iPhone, pressed the learn button on the wall control twice, the lights flashed on the garage door opener and wallah, after returning to the house , I opened the Home app on my phone and the garage door icon appeared and my Apple TV showed up as my home hub. I then pressed the Garage door icon in Homekit and received a notice that the garage door was open. I then touched the icon to close the door. I then walked outside, well outside of WIFI range, lifted my wrist and asked siri to open the garage door on my Apple watch and the garage door opened. I then closed it in the same manor. Once you have Homekit set up, you don't ever have to use the MyQ app again. The Home Bridge remains in the house, well within WIFI range and apparently communicates with the 888LM via radio signals, over 150 feet away and through several walls, and works just fine. No need to have it located in the garage as all the Chamberlain instructions say. Pretty slick!
