I had the BigBoss version so I went and DL'ed the xSellize version because I REALLY hated that pink icon. And it's cool because the xSellize version doesn't expire :D

Thanks

Not working for me.

you probably have the bigBoss version. he is coming out with a version that will change the icon on the bigBoss version of biteSMS or you can delete the one you have and add the xSellize repo to your cydia by going into Cydia>Manage>Sources>Edit(in top right)>Add(in top left) and them typing http://cydia.xsellize.com

Once that is done look in the xSellize repo and find biteSMS once it has installed reboot the phone and you will have the new green icon so long as you have left it activated in Winterboard.

Hope that helps.

Still not working..

So you DL'ed the xSellize version right? And did you make sure to activate the biteSMS to RETINA SMS icon in Winterboard?

Okay just got it to work.. I forgot to activate the icon in Winterboard. Thanks so much everybody for the help.

One more question, easiest way to rename it so it says Messages instead of BiteSMS?

You're welcome!!

I was actually wondering myself how to rename it. Can possibly be done through SSH but I don't feel like having to do that much just to change a name.

No problem!!

Yeah, I'm far too lazy for that. :D

Oh, I read somewhere that you can do it in iFile. If anyone knows how that'd be great because it seems a lot easier than SSH.

the only trouble now I'm having, is when I go into cydia to check for "changes" I can only check stuff by xsellize... Not anyone else? Or am I doing this wrong?

Ok the way the changes tab works is kinda funny. It's a two-fold tab. It shows "updates" which would be described as you have the package installed on your phone and there's an update for it which triggers the red badge on the changes tab at the bottom. And then there's the other function that shows everything that is "new" to the cydia library on your specific phone. So when you added the xSellize repo everything that was in it that got added to your phone is "new" to your library. If you scroll down far enough you will find stuff that isn't in the xSellize repo.

Hope that makes sense.

Thanks mate.... Yeah sorry didn't realise that all the other suff was down there at the bottom

Has this now been removed from Xsellize? Not available outside of BB for me!

Did you add the xSellize repo to your Cydia? bigBoss is automatically added by default therefore the biteSMS will be there with a fresh install of Cydia, but not the xSellize version, which is still there as of right now.

You have to download BiteSMS from xSellize and then BiteSMS icon to Retina SMS Icon from BB. The xSellize BiteSMS app is free forever, which makes me smile uncontrollably.

oh its cracked.....never mind

yea....didnt realise you had to install the cracked version of the software...

can you kindly give me the exact step by step version to this part I bolded?

Thanks

  • open up your ssh program
  • go to /private/var/stash/Applications/biteSMS.app
  • open up info.plist in a text editor (WinSCP does this automatically if you double click the file)
  • locate "<key>CFBundleDisplayName</key>
    <string>biteSMS</string>" near the top
  • change "biteSMS" to "Messages"
  • save and respring!

Yeah the problem is it's the old 4.93 on xSellize so it doesn't work with iPhone 4's resolution. When a text comes in during lock screen, click REPLY and see how it's missing letters on both sides of the keyboard because it's too wide

:)

So I downloaded the BB copy of 4.98 (cause 4.93 from xSellize has issues w\ iPhone 4 resolution). I followed the SSH directions on here and was able to change the name from BiteSMS to Messages, but I installed the BB's icon changer and it didn't work. Suggestions since I'm using the official release not the cracked old version?

Ok I have the 4.98 version from bigboss. I bought the app and wish it was possible to have both working together. The 4.98 version is perfect for the retina display on iPhone 4 but I hate the original icon. Will there be a file released on Cydia that is functional with the 4.98 big boss version? Thanks.

Yes, my updated package works for xSellize's 4.93 version and BB's 4.98.

I can confirm that the app in cydia "biteSMS to RETINA SMS 1.0 in the BIG BOSS Source does not work with 4.98. I have iPhone 4 running iOS 4.01. Your package does work with the 4.93 as I have tried it but not with 4.98 from Big Boss.

Hi,

The problem is that I tried to use cyberduck to access my phone and it says "connection refused" I dont know why. I put the phones ip, i put root as the username and my password and I'm 100% sure about the password because I changed in mobileterminal. and I have openSSH installed.

Thanks
