The issue seems to be related to the presence of a button ... In Hangout I can switch between dots and numbers, in iMessage I can't ....

On mine it didn't works.

Try to be a little less rude: it could help discussions ...

The point is it shouldn't be different since there is just only one Field Test Mode.
Maybe something slightly different in the procedure applied ?
