I got to have lunch with Eddy before he became a celebrity and it only cost me eight bucks. Smart guy; he really picked my brain but good.

I have yet to see this guys value to Apple. iTunes is still bloated, fat and ugly. When it was introduced it was light years ahead of everything else but that ages ago. Apple Pay is great but it's accepted at only a small fraction of retailers. iCloud's hit or miss service shouldn't be so spotty although it seems to be improving.
Eddie, what have you done for us lately?

Actually I believe Apple Pay is accepted at more than half of US retailers. Someone correct me if I’m wrong, but I remember seeing a percentage of US retailers recently and being impressed. Even my local family owned businesses are accepting Apple Pay more and more (simply by virtue of having a newer POS terminal, with NFC).

You know what’s funny, a lot of critics said the same thing about Steve Jobs when he returned to Apple. What have you done for us recently? Famously in his “insult response” video. Most of you don’t miss somebody until they’re gone. Then you’ll actually see what he’s done lately, but when they’re gone, it’s too late for you to appreciate it.

Well, time to find out what that will bring
(=> no more lack of content deals, spoilt AppleMusic, bloated iTunes, overpriced Beats gear, piles of Holkywood hotel bills anymore)

In my opinion, he has done quite well in terms of services, especially in the last couple of years. iTunes 12 is much better than the slow turd that was iTunes 11 and is organized quite nicely for the amount of features it offers. On my 2012 MacBook Air it is very stable and isn't particularly resource heavy compared to previous versions. Apple Pay coverage may be spotty but for me personally, I can go without pulling out my wallet during the week and the only time I have to use a physical card is at some grocery stores that I sometimes go to on the weekends. iCloud syncing stability has improved a lot since El Capitan (especially considering its much lower CPU usage compared to dropbox or google drive) and it's cheaper in terms of cost when compared to Google Drive. I am planning to transition to it fully when I upgrade to High Sierra. Obviously the experience may be different for other people, but that's just my 2 cents.

Man... internet people.
I can be critical of apples policies or product decisions with the best of them, but wtf is with the outright personal hatred of someone you've never met and don't know personally?
See a shrink or something.
I for one am an internet-man that despises the attribution of Apple's success to personal stardom of a few inidividuals (like Ive, Cue) who have the idea that their accomplishments in some way meet their stellar salaries.
Maybe at some point they did, but that's long ago (for Eddy Cue too long to remember)
It doesn't seem to come up to these borderliners' minds that the continuous show-off of their infinite luxury and wealth has lost every correlation and is irritating ordinary, hard-working people and overcharged customers now to the core (you may confuse that with hatred, jealousy or whatever, but it has a slightly different angle...)
I would be the first to give these people a call (do you have their number?) or a mail to explain that, but they hide behind enormous corporate fences, PR walls, and spindocter agenda's - now used to erect the aura of charity which mere purpose is to reinforce their perceived stardom (which all is so fabricated and false, that it stinks here on the other continent)
You may be opening your window to embrace that PR-circus, others are opening it to get a fresh breeze. Happy lunching.

Well said.

The people who need to see a shrink are those who would pay $50,000 to have lunch with Eddy Cue. If you want, donate your money to a charity YOU pick, and not on some obscure charity Cue picks ... just so you can feed your ego with some imaginary ass-kissing with a top level Apple executive.

Charitybuzz today launched an auction in which the winning bidder will have lunch with Apple's services chief Eddy Cue at the company's newly constructed Apple Park headquarters in Cupertino, California.

The auction has an estimated value of $50,000. Bids can be placed between now and Tuesday, July 25 at 12:01 p.m. Pacific Time, in support of non-profit organization Autism Movement Therapy, based in Van Nuys, California.

Autism Movement Therapy works to provide expressive movement therapy and workplace readiness skills resulting in meaningful, dignified employment for individuals with autism and related disorders, according to Charitybuzz.Cue offered a similar luncheon auction just a few weeks ago, raising $255,000 in support of the National Association of Basketball Coaches Foundation non-profit organization in Kansas City, Missouri.

The private meet and greet will be scheduled at a mutually agreed upon date between August 1, 2017 and June 30, 2018. The winning bidder must be at least 18 or older. The cost of the meal and gratuity is included, but travel and accommodations are not. The experience cannot be resold, re-auctioned, or transferred.

The lunch does not include a formal tour inside Apple Park facilities, and photography is not permitted, according to Charitybuzz.

Cue, who is officially Apple's senior vice president of Internet Software and Services, currently oversees the iTunes Store, Apple Music, Apple Pay, Siri, Apple Maps, iCloud, and Apple's iWork and iLife suites of productivity apps.

Apple executives have participated in several Charitybuzz auctions over the years, with CEO Tim Cook most recently raising over $680,000 for the Robert F. Kennedy Center for Justice and Human Rights.

Lol,

Pretty gross that people would pay obscene amounts of money to have lunch with a person.

Pretty obscene that someone such as yourself MISS the BIGGER PICTURE and point of the lunch!
not so much the heavily worked and tasked employee,
not so much a first exclusive visit at their new campus - pretty big deal,
yet ...

CHARITY for AUTISM!

like seriously?! This is what gadgets, greed, and money had led us to in society. Should someone have $50K minimum to burn then hell they SHOULD burn it to a good cause and not just another gadget, car, house, or jewelry accessory to brag about amongst the rich and famous!
[doublepost=1499796210][/doublepost]
I would spend my lunch convincing him to leave Apple.

Say what you ALL want at Apple BUT Mr. Cue is the driving force and more tasked than ANY OTHER employee at Apple!

ApplePay
AppleMusic
AppleCare
Apple broadcasting of TV, Music, and Movie Deals
AppleTV
Apple.com site ... yes that's under his arm baby!
iMessage portal and servers ... you guessed it.
and a LOT more!

So ask yourself what exactly does Ive, Cook, etc REALLY do in terms of work... name specifics vs generalizing based on their titles?!

Cue does look and sometimes behave over confident and even as a douche but you CANNOT deny is hard work and how it pays off for Apple as a whole for ALL the things WE as consumers use! I'll bet his negotiation tactics and prowess and success outweighs Tim Cooks' in respect to supply chain!

What's worse than the dancing is it looks like he's wearing my mom's blouse...that she had in the heart of the 1980's pastels era. Hers had some scary shoulder pads sewn in, though.

But you forget just how COOL it was for a man to wear pastel colours back in the 80's ...

Miami Vice!
Crocket & Tubs
Phil Collins
Bruce Willis (when he had hair)
etc etc etc ... just about EVERY top tier and 2nd tier actor in movies from the 80's onward save for probably Tom Cruise starred in Miami Vice.

Heck you probably wore pastel coloured shirts then too ... have a look at your kid photos ;)

As our personal stereo in our pocket, the ability to play whatever song we desire quickly, easily, and precisely wherever in the song that we wish, the music player software REALLY matters. Being personally angry at him comes from constant emails to Apple, this forum, and other places with zero response. He is personally responsible for the decisions to favor the latest popular form over function. He is the final word in this section of the software, so I hold him personally responsible.

Bite your tongue, I could NEVER forget the hotties of Miami Vice! Or Bruce Willis with hair or Phil Collins who never quite had hair.

I had some pastels but mostly was into New Wave, so I wore a lot of black with some bold accents and a lot of leather belts and bracelets with metal spikes. I wanted to shave my hair, but my mom would have murdered me, so I had the most god awful big hair to go with my huge shoulder pads. I was a sight to behold!

But my mom really did have a shirt like Eddy's with big shoulder pads. She dressed sort of like Peg Bundy sometimes, too. My family could have had quite a reality tv show if they had such things back then.

Oh yeah, you should have seen my mom's Bicentennial themed clothes from the 70's.

Eddy Cue's wardrobe seems rather dapper and stylish compared to the fashion disasters I've seen.

If Trump's wall ever were to split Apple HQ, on what side would our tame Cue character end up ?

If you don't mind I think I would rather take his secretary. He is seriously Clown Creepy.

No biting my tongue I LOVED Miami Vice too - I was Tubbs! That's why I mentioned it; glad you enjoyed the episode too. Doubt such a show could be done and rock the world ever again.

New Wave?
- I think of New Wave like New Order or Eurasure, while PUNK/Mods in the gear you wore. Just my perception but I was just a tween then.

Fashion was left alone after '79 I think until '83/84. You can watch Superman (original with Christopher Reeves) just to see the proof: cars, clothes, lack of colour people had on .. god awful hair styles. By Late '84 between hair stylists and fashionista's and stylers they must've lost their last nerve and went berserk on the world: just look at early 80's rock hairstyles of Motley Crew, Platinum Blonde, Psychedelic Furs, dear lord I need to wash my eyes out!

Miami Vice was so iconic. If some idiot ever tries to reboot that series I will die because there is no way to recapture that magic. It stands perfect as is.

When you say you were Tubbs do you mean you dressed just like him? I bet the girls went crazy.

Nah my mom wouldn't let me go full on punk like some of the girls at school did. Just a few accessories here and there. Mostly I copied Debbie Harry's style--at least the kinds of clothes she wore that I could wear to school-not her short dresses. And as well as I could on a tight budget. I couldn't afford to go to Commander Salamander like some of the other kids could. Debbie Harry herself said her look came from being on a budget. Lol.

My mom could sing like Debbie Harry (she'd stop into my room and sing along to my records) so she kind of approved the look to a point. She stopped short of approving the bleached job. I had two toned hair but it was copper and brown.

Actually it's kind of scary, but I have Debbie's color and style right now, but that was unintentional. I was just messing around with it and liked it and decided to stick this way for awhile. And my parents are furious, too, especially my dad. Yeah I'm 50 years old and still fighting the parents over my hair. They're a trip! Whatever...my husband likes it, so who cares what my dad thinks.

Yep, fashion went bonkers just about when you said it did. And it's happening again. It's been more or less normal since the 90's if you're willing to overlook the occasional outbreaks of grunge and "pants on the ground". Now there's some odd trends in men's hair and clothing coming along.

I'm seeing the man bun popping up everywhere. Some guys can pull off the look but others make my fingers itch for a pair of scissors just like in the days of "rat tails" and truly overdone mullets. Uh, I accidentally gave myself a mullet once but we won't talk about that.
