According to a statement from Warner Bros. (which, like CNN, is owned by Time Warner) Charlie Sheen has been fired.

Why? Was it because of something he posted on Facebook? :D

Now, when they're talking of a replacement, are they thinking of killing Charlie's character off and Rob Lowe (or whomever) would be some new character that comes out of nowhere, it would they keep Charlie's character, swap actors, and act as if nothing happened?

I personally think they're going to kill Charlie off, Alan gets the house in the will, and then Judith kicks Herb out and Herb moves in with Alan. Herb and Judith's marriage has been rocky, I think the writers did that so they'd have a plan when Charlie Sheen inevitably went off the wagon.

I think Rob could pull-off the sardonic character very well, but they will probably go with a name change just the same.

You have many good qualities, lee, and you just showed us another one: a capacity for introspection; for looking back, recognizing and admitting that you might've made an all-too-human mistake.

A lot of us would probably have done the same thing, were we in your shoes. I take a looooooong time to let people who've wronged me back into my life.

Wow- thanks for the compliment. That was very nice. Yeah, he was a very difficult person to deal with.

Love the show and will be watching all the re-runs but I suggest cancelling it.
Its not going to be the same without him.
Unless you can get Robert Downey to lower his status to TV.

LOL!

In all seriousness...it'd be a hoot if they hired Emilio Estevez. Can you imagine the intra-family squabble that might set up?? :D

He already appeared in the show. Played an old friend of Charlie's who drops dead, prompting Charlie to rethink his own lifestyle. Perhaps that storyline was drawn from real life.

You're quite welcome.

I watched it once and was also amazed it was so popular. It's so run-of-the-mill.
I love Maher, but most lame comedy ever? What about Me and the Chimp, It's About Time, Captain Nice, The Lucy Show, Family Matters, Webster, and Glenn Beck?

I would like to see them pull off a change of actor for once, without changing the character. I think it's an insult to the audience's intelligence that networks think we can't accept someone else in the role. They always go for the knee-jerk reaction, which is to kill off the character. Give us some credit, and a chance for another actor to make the role his own. It's not like it's unheard of. How many James Bonds have there been??

They did it with Darren on Bewitched too.

Roseanne's blonde daughter. The Munster's blonde daughter. Dr Elizabeth Weir in Stargate.

And that's what bugs me. That's the only time I can think of on TV where they actually pulled a switcheroo instead of having the character killed or sending him or her on a long trip to visit Aunt Edna in Schenectady.

Walt, from Lost, too.

I don't see the appeal of 2 and a Half Men too, or How I Met Your Mother. I honestly don't get it :p. Maybe I'm spoiled with stuff like Darkplace, Partridge, Peep Show etc.

His character on "Two & A Half Men" is based loosely on his life. He's been this way for the longest time. He's been through enough rehab to know what the alternatives are (the "healthy" lifestyle), and he obviously doesn't want that. He enjoys living as he does, so who can begrudge him that?

I'd rather have a short, enjoyable and colourful life than a long, boring one. Cheers to Charlie, I say. Damn that guys pulls some nice chicks……

Who the hell are we to judge?

Who said we have to live til 105 years old?

I have met crazier "normal" people who weren't even on drugs!

I never watched those shows, so thanks for the information.

I guess that does show it can be done without the world coming to an end.

And now, back on the Charlie front, for those who are simply tired of it all...the Charlie Sheen blocker for Chrome and Firefox. :D
I still say Ted McGinley.
McGinley has been called "the patron saint of shark-jumping" by jumptheshark.com founder Jon Hein. This is a reference to the popular and enduring shows which have featured him in their declining years. Such shows include Happy Days, The Love Boat and Dynasty.[6] Hein writes that this is not a comment "on Ted's fine acting skills" and that "he has a great sense of humor about it, too".[7] In one episode of Married... with Children (a show that stayed on the air for six seasons after McGinley's addition to the cast) McGinley himself spoofed this fact by momentarily breaking the fourth wall by asking Al "Another picture, captain? I mean, Fonzie? ....Al?". A 2003 issue of People that focused on McGinley's casting on Hope and Faith was titled "Ted McGinley Is Not a Killer", referencing his reputation for causing shows to jump the shark, though his long involvement with Married... with Children suggests otherwise; his contributions may have enabled the series to have a longer and more successful run.
