so people should be safeguarding their computers/smartphones/digital gadgets, install all new security updates and ditch their connected devices if apple stops updating the OS so the evil hackers can't sneak in and steal your data, but it is somehow perfectly fine to grant access to an unpredictable entity that tends to make the silliest mistakes that not even the dumbest human would make and has some pretty questionable data pipeline, storage, terms and conditions about how your data and privacy and privacy will be respected.
and there are living and breathing people with 99.99% identical genome to mine that believe this is somehow a marvelous idea.

Some potentially dumb questions that just occurred to me:

Doesn't this ChatGPT with full disk access to Message effectively break the security of iMessage? Doesn't the full text of all messages have to be uploaded to Open AI servers in order for the AI tool to write the responses? Along with all the contact info?

So communicating with ANYONE using this tool exposes your supposedly private communications and personal info to OPEN AI's privacy and data retention/use policies? And there's no way to know if you are communicating with such a person in the first place?

Am I missing something here, or is this a five-alarm fire?

This is a plug-in, released by OpenAI.

Users will download and install the login, at at some part of the process, the user will be asked to agree to the copying all all message content, contacts etc to be copied and sent to OpenAI.

The responsibility will be purely on the user, who will have agreed to give all the information.

Sure, but NOT the people who are communicating with that user.

My friend/family member/co-worker/boss installs the plug-in and agrees to all of Open AI's terms. But I do not know this, I am not a party to the agreement, and now every iMessage I send them and my contact info in THEIR contacts gets scraped by ChatGPT?

Yep…
There is such an incredible amount of money invested in AI, it simply must succeed…. If this amount of cash evaporates….
Everyone has to encourage push the usage of AI, everywhere.

We survived the bursting of the internet bubble just fine, the AI bubble collapse will likely do the same. The garbage companies will be shut down and liquidated, the biggest cheerleaders will go broke and a few years later we will start getting actually decent Ai products that produce real value .

OMG this is great. Going to let him loose when my ex texts me ...

Also, I like how ChatGPT gets to send iMessage before Android or Windows hahah, lol.

You’all musta forgot.. Claude has done this for months

I am subscribed to Gemini Plus. Would be interesting to see how new Siri stacks up

There are plenty of videos on YouTube that compare the new Siri AI with other chatbots.

Just keep in mind, Siri AI is still in beta and will be probably will be until OS’28 comes along, and it is never going to match the capabilities of the others, but it really doesn’t need to. Even it meets the needs of 75% of its user base, it’ll be successful.

I did recently run into a limit, not sure if it’s because it’s beta, but it can only process a max of 20 files at a time, when I had 59 invoices I needed it to summarize, total and create a table. The work around was to combine all the files into a single PDF.
