Mabey so, but it better be outta this world because no one will be paying a phone and watch plan. Unless it's the same cost
It will be part of a shared device data plan, which already exists on all carriers.

Samsung has been doing it for almost a year now with no huge battery drain.
In other words, it's already being done.

That's still an extra $10/month and another device against the limit.
Don't think so. It is a different type of product then a phone. Never saw Rolex dropping prices.

But they definitely targeted Samsung more forcefully than even Google for features in Android that they thought were infringing.
You said nobody will pay extra for a shared plan.
Many already are.
There are quite a few individuals paying for shared device plans. This will be just one more device to add to that plan.
It's your choice whether to pay for it or not.
My exact words were "Second, it's another data plan or $10 monthly fee on a data share plan (to use the US as an example)."Your exact words...
no one will be paying a phone and watch plan
...but let's not keep arguing this.
The phone companies are already set up for shared device plans. People are already paying for it with the many devices they wish to share. So, adding a watch with SIM capability would just be another device on that plan.
I think it will be 2017 before we see the second gen. This is a new market for them and they will take the lessons learnt over the next 12 months and use that to enhance the design and capability for a second gen a year further down the line.
I am quite optimistic ago about the first gen. Updates to the OS and better apps will make this gen seem like a different animal by the end of the year
This has been gone over many times, so I won't comment on the Rolex part, only to say the Omega TC2 took the best part of 30-40 years before it started to climb in value. For most of it's life it's financial value has been pretty much close to junk, only recently has it's value started to climb to anything worth noting.
(For this not into watches, the TC2 is the famous Omega digital watch released in 1972 with the Red LCD display)
But did Omega drop prices?
Rumors are already out there that Apple has a new standalone watch they will be launching within the next year that does not reply on tethering to the iPhone.
Again, rumors, but I would wholeheartedly expect a new watch next year.
Do you think Apple will keep the current watch around next year (when version 2 comes out) at a cheaper price? Like they've done with the iphone and ipad?
No new watch next year and will not be cheaper.
To go from a SS watch with silicone band to a stainless steel link band is hundreds of dollars. Considering stainless steel costs pennies for Apple to make, they are making money hand over fist.
I expect next year for there to be a Titanium band option at exorbitant prices. Probably $1200+

Take a look at how much replacement bracelets are for traditional watch brands (in a similar price bracket to the SS Apple watch). I think you are in for a shock!
