I was stuck on the 2nd progress bar updating an iPhone 4S through iTunes but did a hard reset (power & menu) and reconnected to iTunes and it completed successfully.

iPad2 updated OTA without any problem at all and before the iPhone had finished even though it was started 15 minutes later!

Just sitting at preparing update....after the download been ages?...Like 20 mins...
On an iPad 3

Edit: Restarting :)

It took over an hour to download on the iPad installing took only a few minutes. So far..meh. I like having the clock on here now and Siri has always been amusing for me when it works. Downloading for the phone now. Undecided if I want to load io6 for the rest of my devices.

...you're on an unlimited data plan on your mifi...;);)

Just kidding, not trying to send this thread off on a tangent...:p

I see what you did there......but in our case really, it was just the area of town as it finished downloading in 5 minutes once I was in the car driving. At home now and it's just shy of finishing the preparing of the update.

Glitch

WARNING TO EVERYONE: Do not update cause i just lost over 1000 of my photos off of my iPhone. Update at your own risk:apple::mad:

Back up / sync much?

Mine just finished and didn't delete any of my pics.

I've wasted a total of over six hours on this update. Once at 90% (!) download, once at 10% download, it just said "Error 9006" and aborted the download.

I guess it's Apple's servers dying and I don't feel like wasting 5 hours in iTunes again without a resume function. Is there a mirror or a torrent for the update (4S)?

3GS appears to have lost its photos too

Took about 2 hours to download to my 3GS via WiFi and another half hour to install. Now the Photos app says there are no photos (no big loss). Oddly, the Camera app shows the thumbnail of the last photo I took in the lower left (as usual) and it is correct - and the Usage says there's 200Mb in the Camera Roll, so the photos are still thee somewhere. However, clicking the thumbnail brings up the No Photos screen.

And now, the Camera Roll is back as if nothing had happened. As far as I know I didn't do anything to restore it. Just took its sweet time...

When I checked Settings on my 4s, the update was already downloaded so I only had to install ios 6. Installation, reboot and setting it up took me 24 minutes and that was it. Before updating, i backed up my phones both to iCloud and my computer. Did the update OTA.
