I only dropped $50 bucks off with the manager as she was waiting to be able to pre order the phone I want. Once it came up for her or whatever she would use the cash to buy the gift card and pre order together.

oh okay. I told my guy if he could keep checking for me but told me to come back tomorrow or on Monday. I don't want to keep going back there just to see red on their screen lol.

I totally agree it's super disappointing and a total waste of my time. What state do you live in? I have a sneaky suspicion that the east coast got all of the pre orders because they opened hours before the west coast stores. The manager at the RS by my house told me the same thing but she told me Monday for sure. Sadly I was told that it would be the 13th for sure. Grrrrrrr

I live in florida. I'm not going to hold my breath on radio shack or ATT. If i really want it on the 19th then i'll go to an apple store and wait in line.

i just looked over the paperwork and it's got a ship date of 10/28

the sales lady said it would be there next friday.

So it's Verizon? That a different process that AT&T and Sprint ones, so sorry for concerning you.

Just to stick up for RS a little bit...I bought my iPhone 5 there almost 2 years ago (just before Xmas). I forget some of the specifics, but I think there were a bunch of deals various stores were offering, but it looked like everyone was out of stock. I went into a RS as a last resort, and I think they had a promo where they would give you $50 worth of coupons. The store near me was completely devoid of customers and didn't have any in stock, but the young female manager was a real sweetheart. She called another RS about 30-45 mins away, verified that they had some, and offered to have them hold one and she would pick it up for me (it was along the route she takes from home to work) and bring it to the local store the next day and hold it for me (with no money down by me). Now that's customer service!

Southernboyj, do you know if RS is offering any special trade-in prices on the iPhone 4 or 4S, competitive with what AT&T and some others are offering ($200 for a 4 or 4S)?

Finding anything worth spending that $50 on in radio-shack was like the hardest thing I've done in life lol. Their prices are ripoffs and the selection of products is generally laughable (at least the stores around me). Regretted that $50 so bad lol. I ended up spending half of it on a longer coaxial cable for my living room and the rest eventually expired as I could never find anything worth the $25 that I actually wanted/needed in there.
Yeah, that was my story, too. After getting the iPhone 5 thru RS, I think I got two $25 coupons (printed out by the register or emailed to me - I forget). I initially thought I'd use it towards an Apple-branded lightning cable, but then I discovered that the fine print on the coupon stated that it couldn't be used on any Apple products. I couldn't find anything else in the store I had any interest in at the time, and some weeks later when I finally thought of something I could use them on, I discovered that the coupons had expired (another bit of fine print I had missed was how quickly they expired).

Sorry, I should have been a little more specific. Will they allow customers to buy Verizon iPhone 6 off contract on release date?

Yes you can.. They, like most other 3rd party retailers charge $50 over normal unsubsidized price though.

First off Southernboyj thank you for being active on this thread I have been reading your posts carefully and they are helpful.

I live in San Diego, CA and I went in on the 12th waited till they opened and I was the first person in the store. Went to preorder and was told they were sold out. I wanted iphone 6 plus 64 gb but would take any color any size. The manager at the store called me 3 hours later telling me to come back in. I did and she took my $50 cash and said she would pre order it first thing the morning of the 13th. Called in later in the day and she told me she can't preorder it but will be able to on Monday. And is somehow guaranteeing I will get it on the 19th. Is this something that sounds possible or normal? I don't know if I should get my $50 bucks back and wait till the 19th and try my luck or just wait and see if it works out.

It sounds like she's going to hold some of her day one shipment. Cause we get shipment from besides preorders.

What I would advise you,and many others to do.. Is preorder at RadioShack if you still can... On launch day, get in line early at an Apple/carrier store.. If that fails, then go to Radioshack. Preorders at RS have a 72 hour hold.

I've done that too. Most RadioShack employees per district know each other really well. I work there while I'm I'm college, because the pay is better than Best Buy, and I love electronics.

As far as the trade in.. There is an iPhone trade in going on. I'll find out the specifics for you in a little while.

I went into the local RS Friday, as soon as they opened. Tried to preorder for verizon, but the manager and worker said verizon's system would not let them preorder the 6+. They took my name/ phone # and the phone i wanted and said they would call me when they got it. I am going to multiple stores before RS opens but it will be plan B. I got my 5 from that store and they only got 2 in the first shipment.

Pre-orders for an iPhone 6+ 64GB Space Grey via AT&T Next are still available at my Radio Shack according to an employee. After supposedly reading some long email, he told me that I should get it on release day, but seemed really unsure. He's gonna call his boss and hopefully give a call back in the next five minutes. Fingers crossed!

Update: I get a call back saying that AT&T guaranteed the phones would be there on Friday, including the iphone plus. I immediately got in my car and made the 8 mile journey. I get to the store, find a couple of guys that look like they're fresh out of high school, and get told that they tried to call me afterwards to tell me iphone pluses were all sold out.

I never got that call...

Long story short, they didn't realize the iphone pluses had been sold out, and they said they'd call me when the sku goes from red to green. That's what I get for thinking radioshack is in anyway competent :/

I'd like to think I'm competent. :'(

That sucks, I not going to bother with RS then cause all they see if Red/Green lol. If it's sold out then it's sold out.

I'm 30 minutes from Pensacola! And yeah, to be fair.. I'm the only one at my store who has been on the consumer end of iPhone launches. :p

welp, i got an email from verizon and sure enough, its scheduled for 10/28 delivery. I can only be mad at myself for not verifying in store, and now i've been told by the store employees it can't be canceled until they receive it

all i want to do now is get it cancelled so i can order a 6 for launch day

Just went to Radio Shack locally. The associate was really nice. He said they have stock of the 6 Plus for Verizon in 64GB/128GB, no 16GB. However, he couldn't place an order due to the system being down. He advised I come back tomorrow to try again, he'd be there to help out.

Pretty lame that the system is down, but the stock still being "available" gives me hope.

So is all radio shacks sold out of the 6 Plus units? Or are the inventory store by store? I called and the girl told me they were sold out but it changes through the day and she would call me if they got it in. Didn't know if I should try different stores. Im in Florida btw also =)

i'd check the delivery date first, they told me the same thing and when i got the email from verizon with 10/28 delivery date the store backtracked and now i'm having a hard time trying to get them to cancel the order

I just went to a local Radio Shack in FL. The only model they had available for 9/19 was the iPhone 6 64 GB in Gold. Everything else wouldn't be available until October or November, which was the past the deadline for the iTunes gift card promo.
