I'm banking on the fact that although I have no iPhone, I also have NO data OR texting plan... which means they stand to make at least $700 off of me if I upgrade (on data alone).
No there really wasn't any confusion. Original iPhone owners have always been able to upgrade to the iPhone 3G for 199/299 dollars. The confusion is whether or not current non-iPhone AT&T consumers can get that price.

Has anyone else been checking their upgrade status?
I am currently on an iPhone plan. Yesterday it said I was not eligible for an upgrade. As of today my upgrade status changed to eligible for upgrade.
