Meijer gas stations also support ApplePay at the pump. It's where I've been using to fill up since ApplePay went live. Usually where ever there's a Meijer grocery store, there's a Meijer gas station.

I'm still very happy with Meijer and their support of ApplePay, even though they're part of the CurrentC group. Yay Midwest forward thinking! ;)

Dang - I just got gas at a Meijer last week and looked at the [new] pump and wondered whether I could use Apple Pay, but then just swiped my card as I usually do. Next time I stop there (later this week), I'll definitely use it.

Awesome News

This will be great and will put a lot of pressure on Tesco/Unocal to do the same. The overlap is incredible. In Colorado we're dominated by MerchantC MCX members Shell and Conoco/Phillips but California is the biggest fuel market.

When travelling to Vegas, I had to prepay for the gas inside using Apple Pay which I did for the security. Of course, having this at the pump makes it that much more convenient.

Besides the security having a record of the transaction on your phone is also a win. And with some credit cards you get a location. Won't have to keep your gas receipts anymore since they also bleach out in about 60 seconds anyway.

I have heard the Sheetz merchant on the East coast turned off their NFC/Apple Pay compatible readers because they are MCX members.

The more pressure put on MCX members the better. Keep the ball rolling.

Is it going to be a front page news story every time a vendor decides to accept Apple pay?

that is going to get boring really fast...it already is.

I'm ready to be bored to tears. The more Apple Vendors the more secure my commerce both at retail and in apps.

But wait... I thought we weren't supposed to use our cellphones at the pump?

Why don't they bring this to Canada already? Our pumps already have NFC terminals. I just tap and pay with Visa, it works great!

----------

We don't pump our gas in Jersey... we pump our fists :D

But seriously, I doubt people would want to give their phone to the pump attendant to pay.

No self service in Jersey? In my town in Canada they just got rid of the last Full Serve station. It's an issue for people with limited mobility.

This is great news. I never go to Chevron stations as they usually aren't the cheapest gas, but I will now.

Excellent news, and what I've been waiting for. When I heard that Chevron was an Apple Pay partner at launch, I was disappointed to see that it wasn't integrated at the pump. Having to walk inside the mart, away from the pump, to use Apple Pay is just counter-convenient.

While not nationwide, every Wawa I have been to in my area supports apple pay both inside and at the pump.

In NC, I filled up at a Sheetz and they had contactless payment. But, my corporate Amex card doesn't support Apple Pay, so I couldn't try it.

I see that Sheetz is in the CurrentC consortium: have they blocked Apple Pay as well?

Most CurrentC merchants didn't block anything except for CVS and Rite Aid.

Please continue to post a new story every single time another company integrates Apple Pay into their systems. These stories are endlessly interesting because people with iPhone 6 phones have no other ways to pay for things!

See this is one of the reasons why I hate my car. I hate putting gas during winter, going in to pay, and going out to then go away. And I don't pay with my cards either because they pre-load like $150 on them.

This will be really cool...funny thing is, I went to get gas the other day and forgot my wallet. This will be real handy in the future.

Happened to me last week. Had to pay inside first at the Chevron and had no idea how much a full tank would be. I asked for $30 and only filled up about $25 worth. The authorization on my bank account showed $30 that day but changed to $25 a few days later.

If Chevron can do it then what's stopping BART (Bay Area Rapid Transist-commuter train in the Northern California Bay Area) and other means of public transportation? A lot of them in the Bay Area already have NFC.

Article erroneously states Apple Pay is currently accepted only at Chevron & Texaco stations. I've been happily using Apple Pay at Kangaroo Express (part of BP family) and BP for a few weeks now (Triangle area of NC). I have to go inside, and try to estimate the amount, but worth it for the security aspect. Works so well, I've actually got hubby -- who was STILL rocking a Razr variant until October -- using an iPhone 6.

Does this mean that Apple Pay will also begin accepting Chevron gas credit cards (distributed by GE Money Bank) into their system?

I have one which is used exclusively for fuel, and also gets up to 10¢/gallon discounts at certain stations. So Apple Pay will do me no good if they don't accept Chevron's own credit card.

Many more besides Rite Aid and CVS

Most CurrentC merchants didn't block anything except for CVS and Rite Aid.

I have seen a report on Twitter about a NFC enabled Sheetz pump being turned off. I don't live in East so can't confirm.

I have definitely seen plenty of Circle K/ Shell and Conoco Phillips NFC (Apple Pay) store terminals disabled for NFC. You get a NFC symbol when using Apple Pay but charge is denied.

I have also seen NFC terminals at Best Buy that don't work.

I love Walgreens but don't know why CVS and Rite Aid are the only ones getting grief for turning off NFC terminals.

In Chicago, the Ventra system supporting their MTA transportation infrastructure is NFC/Apple Pay enabled. New York City is investigating as well.
BART should get a move on.

I'll say it again. I really wish Apple Pay could have launched in Canada at the same time as US. Alot of our major gas stations have already been taking NFC payments by Visa and MC for over a year now.

I have Circle Ks around me and Apple Pay works fine at all of them. They just built a brand new one here with new terminals and it works fine.

Well not only did Sheetz disable the Contactless readers on the pumps, they totally removed it from the inside and I'd say almost all MCX members turned off Contactless. Circle K/Shell never seems to be on the Paypass locator, but just the standalone Circle K's had Contactless inside (and maybe they still do). As Kum & Go also an MCX member turned off the processing of Contactless payments. I've seen a few Phillips 66/Conoco still on the Paypass locator and one still took Contactless for sure, which makes sense that they are independently run and owned.

Shhesh Chevron and Texaco (though there are no more Texaco's around) were waaaay more expensive than even Shell and Exxon... I don't see supporting Apple Pay helping them get more customers (in my area).

The ARCO station by my home has excepted Apple Pay since its inseption... doesn't get much cheaper than that. :)

No Chevrons in the St. Louis area, sadly. I usually like to go to QuikTrip because they have clean stations that are well lit, good prices, and their coffee is good. I wrote to them asking for Apple Pay support, got a form letter, and no changes to their payment terminals or pumps.

Still waiting for another local station -- we have lots of Shells, BPs, and Mobils -- to accept NFC at the pump, but nobody does. You'd think they'd be all over tokenised payment systems given that criminals are known to try to use stolen cards at gas stations since they don't have to confront a clerk, and almost everyone needs to buy either gas or diesel to go about their lives in the US -- our mass transit infrastructure is awful. They will also install skimmers on pumps for the same reasons, and NFC/tokenisation would be a way to prevent the stolen card numbers from being any good since they are one-time-use only. (The same, I hope, would be true with EMV cards, but they don't accept those either and they can wait even longer than the fall 2015 deadline that other merchants are under for that switch).

I guess they're literally banking on the fact that they sell a product that is almost impossible to avoid having to buy. Sad when corporate convenience is willingly placed over customer security. Why should they bother upgrading their pumps when we HAVE to buy gas/diesel and HAVE to use their outdated, security-hole-ridden non-encrypted magswipe readers to buy what they're selling? At most they put the NFC readers inside the store where most people don't go -- they just want to pay at the pump and leave.

Ugh. And, because ALL of the stations available to me are doing the same thing and not doing anything, every time I swipe my card I worry that I've just given the account number away to somebody who'll clone my card. It's happened a few times before even though I check for skimmers and don't go to dodgy-looking stations/businesses as much as possible.
