Are you really that gullible? I'm sure you also believe Tim Cook word for word when he says that Apple products are, in fact, magic and not just advanced technology.

There's a difference between saying someone is straight up lying vs. honoring an NDA. Apple is notorious for over the top NDAs. Anyone who leaves Apple who is higher up in the company has never said anything bad about the company within several years of leaving. That speaks volumes. Forstall was practically forced out the door and you never hear a peep. Same with John Browett. But sure, be gullible and believe everything the millionaires and corporate shills tell you and take it 100% at face value. Just search Google for the stories over the years that creep up from sources talking about how things really go down inside Apple. It never matches the narrative that they feed you! And Apple isn't unique. This happens at a lot of companies. It's all about PR spin and having everyone come out looking good. In reality, if everyone was super happy then there wouldn't be these huge names leaving. Just sit and think about it logically.
Logically all kinds of people move on to all kinds of other opportunities for all kinds of reasons. All kinds of things happen.

After reading everything what the car could do, I suddenly got a bit scared. It seems too futuristic and yet it is just a year away...possibly. Wow.

Why would you be scared? Tesla is going to eliminate probably 90% of the stupid driving that the responsible 10% have to put up with every day like this example where the car in front of you swerving at the last moment giving you very little time to react. Fortunately, Tesla can see two cars ahead with accident detection and avoidance.

That is what is scary. I will no longer be in control. Can you imagine traveling on I-5 from LA to San Diego during rush hour and not touch the wheel? Or go into NYC on I-95?

Just curious, when you plug in a tesla, how do you know if the source energy is from solar or wind? While the car may be zero emission, charging the battery certainly may not be. Solar and Wind is a very small portion of the energy generation in the US. Coal, Nuclear and Gas are still the workhorses.
"Coal, nuclear, and Gas are still the workhorses" -- sorry, but that is bs. Tesla outperforms like you wouldn't believe in terms of acceleration, speed and torque.
I charge mostly at home, I have solar array. I'm saving money and helping preserve the environment. I'm feeling good about that choice. If you can, get on board too. Well worth the investment. :)

I've driven a Tesla and I agree that it performs well, but that was not the point of my comment.

I was talking about power plants, where the energy comes from to charge the cars.... In the US, renewable energy only makes up 13.5% of electric generation. The rest comes from coal, nuclear and gas, which is 86.5% - thus my "workhorse" comment stands true. Even though they are shutting down coal plants, and nuclear is still in a grey zone, power plants that use natural gas are being built at a rapid pace.

That's great that you have a solar array at home, pat yourself on the back for that. But I don't think you can speak for all Tesla and electric car consumers. Does all of their power come from renewable sources? Doubt it... Just because an electric car isn't directly polluting, those batteries won't charge themselves.

Lets also not forget those batteries won't last forever either... so what happens when they are done? Can they be completely recycled?

Vision attracts talent, and it's obvious which company does (not) have it.
I suspect that apple is spending more time on trying to lock the car into its ecosystem to make more profit than it is in trying to perfect driverless car technology.
They will probably wait until others solve the problem and then step in to produce a thinner, lighter car with just one door and colors to match their phones.

That is a wild assertion, in no way I have implied such a thing. Apple employs brilliant staff. It's the apparent lack of management direction, evidenced by a streak of underwhelming products and unconfirmed hype, that expectedly drives those brains to pursue better challenges elsewhere.

In short, Apple lacks vision and bleeds talent. Hope it's clear now.

All opinions my friend.

Conspiracy theories aplenty... zero proof.
You want to debunk Chris Lattner's own statement in his own words? Then actually disprove it.
There's literally no reason to trust any of these armchair analysts over the guy himself. You don't know him or anything about him. Or Tim Cook, for that matter.

Friend, if you weren't already aware, coal, nuclear, gas are on the decrease, while renewables like solar and wind are on the increase, locally and worldwide. Recyclability is built in into the battery design. (Try recycling a nuclear power plant! Take the tip from the Japanese and their efforts to contain Fukushima 5 years on from the catastrophic damage. Its not possible.) Likewise though, "I don't think you can speak for all Tesla and electric car consumers". The future is headed one way. Look forward to hearing your interest in coming a long for the ride too :)

Well I work in the energy business, field service specifically. My employees go to power plants daily. So I'm very aware of the market.

While coal and nuclear are on the decrease, we are constantly shipping CT generators. Those aren't going anywhere friend.

Your continued avoidance of my points is comical though. Your posts always give me a good laugh.

"Well I work in the energy business" -- That's code for: I work in the old energy business.

Time to think next gen, things change, those who dig in their heels will need to run faster later to catch up if it's possible.

Glad I make you laugh. :D

Our company sells both CT generators and wind turbines. And guess what, we're shipping more CT generators than wind turbines. So while you made a good attempt to insult my career, your know-it-all ego failed you again.

The sun doesn't always shine and the wind doesn't always blow. Facts are facts. You can live in your dream world but the truth is in the stats I provided in my first comment. You may not like them, but you can't escape them. Sure renewables are on the rise, but they won't be able to supply the grid. I doubt they will even capture half the supply in the US before I retire.

Won't, can't, etc. heard it all before. Apologies, not intending to insult.

Get into solar thermal, friend. That's where it's at. Store the energy when the sun is out of play. Baseload is fully secured with solar thermal. Countries around the world are already enjoying the benefits of solar captured and stored.

There are loads of ways out of the old energy business. Make the smart move, join the pioneers, sooner rather than later. :)
