Chris Bale got hired for one thing. His severe weight loss in order to start in The Mechanic. Only now, he's got to best that loss in order to play Steve.

Boop. Cheap combination of the two pics.

Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has confirmed in a Bloomberg interview that actor Christian Bale will indeed star as Steve Jobs in Sorkin's upcoming biopic based on Walter Isaacson's 2011 biography of the Apple co-founder. Bale, who was said last week to be in talks for the role, met with Sorkin but did not have to audition for the part.

Shooting for the film will begin in the coming months in what will be a challenging role for the established actor. Bale reportedly will appear in every frame of the movie with speaking parts that exceed three movies combined. The movie will focus on three 30-minute scenes that detail three different product launches.

The movie will be released by Sony, with Oscar-winning director Danny Boyle of Slumdog Millionaire fame associated with the project.

Bale is the whole package here. He's got the acting chops and the base look of Steve. And he can gain/loose weight like no one else in Hollywood. Excellent choice.

Hopefully the movie will do well, but I'm not so sure people will be excited to see yet another movie about Steve Jobs.

I'm sure I will watch it though.

I'm trusting Sorkin - one of the best screenwriters ever.. okay, mainly TV, but what TV!

Yes. Dude's an Oscar winner. There's no way the screenplay sucks. Plus Danny Boyle—another Oscar winner, plus Bale. Oh, yeah—another Oscar winner.

Is it really worth mentioning that Bale didn't have to audition for the role? When was the last time he had to audition for a role? When you make the kind of money Bale makes, you don't need to audition, anymore.

I do remember a story of an Academy Award winning actor being asked to audition for a role, so he just brought in the award. He got the role without an actual audition.

Sorkin reckons Chris will be in every frame. That would make it a unique movie. I think Sorkin is mistaken. Sorkin also seems very nervous when interviewed.

I must be the only person that is not a Bale fan here. Will this be Steve Jobs with a mild lisp. I think Bale was one of the lesser batman's.

The problem any Steve Jobs movie has is we all know Steve to some degree, know the story, have access to heaps of youtube videos.

Val Kilmer or George Clooney sure made for better Batmans. ;)

Really? I thought he was Australian.
