Do you guys know any extension or hack for Safari that would make it work like Chrome or Firefox when it comes to pinned/app tabs?

I really want to switch back to Safari (specially after 5.1), but I cannot live without that feature.

It's driving me crazy.

Why does it matter what browser you're using? Use the one that has the features you have with the speed you want. I asked my friend the other day why he uses Safari.

"It just runs better on the Mac."

I just dropped it right there.

It's a bit more complicated.

Chrome is great, but it doesn't have everything.
Safari 5.1 does have some pretty good features. The only thing missing in it is ability to pin tabs (extremely useful IMO).

What do I do when none of them have all the features that I want?
I guess I should hope for the release of a "Chromari".

You use more than one browser? I have Chrome, Canary, Opera, and Firefox installed and I switch between them depending on what I'm doing.

What features do you like in Safari that aren't available in the others?

I use chrome for everyday browsing but when I stream netflix i use safari because its able to process the video stream and not work the cpu as hard. there is a noticeable difference in cpu % and temps.

This is no different than the Android is better than iPhone [or vice-versa] argument. I tried Chrome, and it chokes on a site I use regularly. Is it faster? Kind of...not great though. That doesn't mean it isn't for someone else...

Use what works for you, and be happy.

what is this "pinning tabs" that everyone is talking about?

It allows you to turn any tab into a favicon size "app tab" in Firefox. The idea is that you use it to keep your often used websites open all the time and easily accessible from that little icon.

It's not that great IMO. If I want certain websites to be accessible quickly, I'd rather turn them into site-specific browsers using Fluid. I do this for Gmail, Facebook and Google Reader at the moment and it works great and doesn't care if your browser crashes for example.

It's a feature present in Firefox and Chrome. I really like it and it works much better for me than Fluid.

I have posted a screenshot of how Chrome looks when I start it. Those three tabs in the left corner are "pinned tabs". Extremely useful and practical if you ask me.

I'm using the regular theme, in OS Lion. Are you talking about those icons? If so, that's not a theme. It's a free web service.

Just make http://www.myfav.es your homepage and customize it with the webpages you use the most. You can customize the background and the icons too.

I also use an extesion so new tabs are opened in that page instead of using the regular Chrome one. I'm at work now, and I don't recall the name of that extension.

I'll check it out when I get home. It's looks real clean the way you have it set up.

Let me know the name of that extension when u remember it. Thanks
