Another data point: in Taiwan, Series 0, screen popped off last month, replaced by Apple for free with no questions asked.

I wish I knew how the Apple customer service voodoo worked. When my series 0 screen fell off out of warranty they basically spit in my face.
You have to be super resilient. Talk to a different person non stop if you have to. Ask for senior advisors. Then ask for another if you have to.

I've had to fight Apple a few times.

Obviously it’s an issue for some, but I think it’s just really a matter of how Apple responds to this issue to rectify the problem. I think in most cases, I think Apple will replace the device with a replacement Watch, but I also think this is where their customer service is really important to stand behind the product. And usually in most cases, Apple is very good at that.

I agree. Had my series 0 for 2.5 years. Never had this issue but I know Apple have a program to take care of this. That’s the difference between Apple and a lot of other manufacturers. As
an individual you *might* be able to get another manufacturer to fix or replace it under your consumer rights but there are no universal programs where they hold their hands up and say this is a problem and we will fix it.

This happened to my wife. It was a result of a swelling battery. She was told the screen displacing was actually a safety feature and resulted in less damage to the watch under those conditions. They simply exchanged the watch on the spot even though it was no longer under AppleCare. The first symptom was unresponsive force touch.

Happened to my wife's series 1 watch too in July. Way out of warranty. Apple replaced it with a series 1 gen 2 free in two business days. Thumb up for Apple services.

Apple is trying to charge me $210 to replace the battery.

Minor issue, but people will call the demise of Apple over this.
I just want my watch repaired, they are trying to charge me $210 for it. I can buy a new one for $400. There’s nothing wrong with mine other than this crap. How do I get it fixed?

Escalate until fixed.
