Cleaning AirPods?

Now that some of us have had AirPods for a few weeks, I figure it's time to start worrying about cleaning them. In the past, Earpods were kind of disposable, so I never worried too much about cleaning them once they inevitably got clogged with earwax. Sorry, but there's no delicate way to put it...our ears produce wax. As much as I clean my ears, I'm sure I'll still get some buildup in the opening/screens. I would usually just use compressed air and try to clean the EarPods as much as possible, but if it didn't work, it wasn't that big of a deal.
With these babies, I want to make sure I'm not forcing anything into the opening. Does anyone have any tips for cleaning them?

I just get earbuds/Qtips and just run them through the Earpods and it gets all of the wax out just fine.

I had the same thought as you! I would normally just use a thumbtack and like run it on the inside edge of the speaker part, but I'm not sure I want to do that with these for obvious reasons even though I never had a problem with doing that to my earpods. I'll probably try using a Q-tip.

    I think you could use:
    1. A dry fine (tooth) brush to do the first pass,
    2. Then use the dry cotton swabs to do the second pass,
    3. Finally use some warm water damp napkins to clean the plastic part.

I'm going to try not to get them dirty. Easier to clean my ears!

Try using a fine Microfiber cloth slightly damp and then use a small object to insert the cloth in and around the opening carefully. (The cloth would cover the object and be used as a probe to penetrate the earpiece).

One YouTuber runs them through washing machine multiple times and they still function. Give em a quick dip in alcohol lol?

Because people (tech types and Apple fans) have been asking me about my AirPods in public and at work, I've been cleaning my ears even more thoroughly than usual. A very small amount of wax (yuck) still accumulates in the oval openings and I find that a folded piece of paper works just fine.

I recommend that men of a certain age check their ears in the mirror while wearing AirPods, because the white plastic highlights hairs. If you're wearing AirPods in early 2017, more people will be looking at your ears than usual. :)

The little brush I got from my electric razor works really well. But I am getting the form covers for them soon, and do that hack for the holes. that should solve a lot of cleaning issues .99cents for 50 so I will have loads
