Does anyone still make clear skins for iPhones, specifically for the back. Seems all I can find is tempered glass or faux metal/leather/carbon fiber/etc skins (dbrand).

I’m looking for one of those thin films you apply with soapy water and can stick on the back.

Awesome!! Thank you! Just ordered those. 👍🏼
Been using their Naked series for years now, but be careful. Their customer service is awfully terrible and depending on where you live, your skins might get delayed by months. I'm in Europe and it took them more than a month to ship the skins, but once they were shipped, they actually came here for like a week, but I didn't get a single answer on my emails.

There is a whole cult on the internet dedicated on hating this company for various reasons, it's crazy lol

@alpi123 Fair point. Their customer service is, for all intents, non-existent. It typically takes at least 3 weeks before any of my orders arrive. Knowing that I‘m going for the 12PM, I ordered early. However, I’ll use a case if the skins don’t arrive before the phone.

Very timely thread. I was considering getting the Phantom Skinz but they stopped making it for the textured glass of the iPhone 11 Pro and I suspect the same will be true for the iPhone 12 Pro. Besides the Phantom Skinz and SlickWrap what other brands can people recommend that are clear, glossy and cover the back and sides of the phone.

I have been looking at the SlickWrap naked series. Has anybody purchased this for their iPhone 12 or iPhone 12 Pro. I would be interested to see some pictures of the naked gloss on a iPhone 12 Pro.

I noticed on their website it now states:
  • Easy, error-proof, and bubble-free installation. *Liquid solution allows adjustments during installation

I watched a video below on YouTube where the person showed the install of the naked matte and it appeared that the skin had an adhesive and did not use a liquid solution.

@Taz Mangus The matte does have adhesive on the back. The gloss is solution. I ordered both, and will most likely use the gloss, and will post pictures next month. What I do like though is that each one comes with 2 skins... that ia if I read it correctly, and the sale doesn’t hurt either.

I found another brand called Xtreme Skins. I like this one as it covers the back and sides. You can select different colors and finishes for the back and sides. I was thinking maybe matte clear for the back and gloss clear for the sides which would match closer with the type of finishes used on the iPhone 12 Pro. Nice that they even have the Apple logo cutout option. So far I am favoring this one. The price is not too bad either.

I've also tried them, they're very prompt and helpful. They have deals all week, and if I'm not mistaken, on Wednesday you order 2 for the price of 1. But that could have been changed.

In terms of quality though, I think Slickwraps is slightly better, I found the clear glossy to be more grippy from XtremeSkins and the matte one looked too textured to me.

Looks like I’ll be picking up one of these .

I’ve been using BodyGuardz for about 5 years. IMO the best quality overall.

@Foss I’m not seeing that BodyGuardz have the clear skins yet for the 12PM. Have you had any indication of BG carrying the clear skins or the 12 series lineup?

Thanks for the info. When I was watching the install videos for SlickWarps for an iPhone, after the install the clear wrap it appears that the Apple logo ends up disappearing.

I ordered from slickwraps before I read all the stories about their bad service. I ordered a second set from xtremeskins last night and already received shipping notification. I used to use a skin with my iPhone 4/5 so hoping to go back to that with the 12 max because I think it looks better than using a clear case.

I wonder if you can still use the Magsafe charger with a skin on. And if so, would it degrade the connection somewhat? Have to wait and see I guess.

There are reviews of thin cases showing that the MagSafe charger still works as it should. Considering how thin a skin is I suspect there won’t be an issue using MagSafe with it.

Did they have these in stock or was it pre order? Hoping to get a kit for when the phone arrives.

Nope, I’ve been checking regularly as well. They usually have them for sale shortly after the phone’s launch. I’m guessing next week probably. I usually get one of the official leather cases as a stop gap, and return it after I get my skins. Apple’s return policy is great.

There is another company called SopiGuard which makes a clear/matte film. When you order a skin it comes with the back, sides and camera. Very inexpensive at $7.99. They don’t offer the choice of a different finish on the sides vs back so you would need to order a clear and matte to get the finish combination.

Best Skins Ever is pretty good. Service is great. iPhone 12 not out yet though.

I used to use them. I emailed about the iPhone 12 and they never responded.

Xtreme Skins are absolutely brilliant. Lee is always helpful and looks after his customers. I moved from Slickwraps after they messed me around about 4-5 years ago. Took 2 months to get my order. Ive been using Xtreme Skins since iPhone 8 and their clear matt skins are top notch. Rocking one on 12 Pro Pacific Blue and will be ordering some for 12 Pro Max.

Do skins offer any sort of drop protection? I'm thinking of going skin + AppleCare this time around but as much as I try to prevent it, my toddlers run off with my phone and drop it every few weeks.
