Sorry for the delays in posting an update.. I never get notified of pending messages on here for some reason.. Anyway, heres an update of the Extremeskins Matte back that I posted above. All of the blemishes/imperfections that were there after a day or 2 have completely disappeared and this has looked perfect. I couldn't be happier with it.

I love the cutout for the Apple logo and it fits perfectly. I do think at some point the edges may peel up - I had that with pretty much all of my previous films of this material in the past, but for now its flawless and is exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks for the pictures, looks awesome. If you don’t mind me asking how much thickness is added with the skin? I’m wondering if it would fit in a case. Thanks.

I purchased both matte and gloss from both Slickwraps and Extremeskins... Unfortunately, I didn't take pics of all of them along the way, I probably should have.

Slickwraps Gloss - I didn't like it at all. Too slippery and just didn't dry right or look good.
Slickwraps Matte - Excellent fit and cut, just enough texture to add grippyness. Only reason I took it off was because without the apple cutout you couldn't see the apple logo at all. (Not a big deal, but since Extremeskins has it that way I wanted to try that.)

Extremeskins Gloss - same as Slickwraps.. just very slippery and didn't dry right. I'd rather go with a tempered glass back but couldn't find any that went all the way around the camera.
Extremeskins Matte - Thats what I have on now, for now.. The cutout around the camera isn't as good as the Slickwraps was, but it does have the Apple logo cutout. I just put it on last night so its not fully dry yet, assuming it dries as well as the slickwraps matte did I'll end up keeping this one on for a while.

The pics are of the Extremeskins Matte w/ cutout. I used a wet application for all, both Slickwraps and Extremeskins sent their version of the solution with the skins.

Did all the bubbles disappear and if so, how long did it take from day of install?

I installed the SopiGuard Matte wet application a couple of days ago and there's still a lot of air bubbles, especially around the camera cutouts. I may request a replacement since it shouldn't take that long to dissipate.

They completely disappeared after 2-3 days.

I may just order this. I know they're in the UK. If you are in the US, how long did it take to receive from the time of your order?

Also, do you have a picture of the final product after the bubbles disappeared, as well as the sides if you installed them also?

Thanks!

I would personally RUN from SLICKWRAPS. I ignored all the bad posts and GAVE them my money. 2 months later I have filed a complaint with PayPal. Whe I filed the claim suddenly SlickWraps printed a label on 12/3 and told PayPal they had shipped it. Then I have had to file another claim as they never sent the package to USPS just printed a label. now waiting PayPal to refund the claim. They are scammers and just plain “Thieves”!

Thanks for another warning. I've read of numerous reports, some good, a lot bad, but was almost tempted to buy from them due to the "60%" discount, but now you've just further swayed me away from them. I'm planning to buy from XtremeSkins instead.

I don't know if XtremeSkins fixed their skins yet, but when I got the four sets I ordered none of them had a cutout for the mmWave "window" on the side of the phone. It looked messy / unfinished.

SopiGuard has the same issue and definitely looks a bit lame with the air bubbles surrounding the mMWave radio, but I don't think any skin has that cut out yet.

They have refused to cancel my pre-order which hasn’t shipped yet. They’ve given some nonsense excuse about the warehouse. I’m about to dispute it on my cc if it doesn’t actually ship before Christmas.

Bodyguardz has been a much better experience. Got it a few days after I ordered and looks good.

After Slickwraps offered to cancel and refund my order, I never heard from them again despite repeated emails. Finally filed a complaint with PayPal and magically my refund showed up. Terrible company. I’ll never order from them again.

And fwiw I ended up trying a glass rear screen protector and liking it so far!

are there any stores that currently sell wraps or skins? ordering will take a while. if i get a new phone in the next couple of days it would be nice to be prepared. i know best buy used to sell zagg skins i think? anywhere else? i do have a skin for an iphone 11 that i could potentially cut and apply while i wait for an armorsuit skin to arrive.

I concur! I got the SopiGuard matte for my iPhone 12 Pro and used a wet install of distilled water + a drop of baby shampoo. After a week of letting it sit and air dry, there’s still a lot of hazing and air bubbles, especially around the camera cut-off.

I thought maybe I didn’t remove all the water properly and requested a replacement. The same thing happened again after letting it sit for another week.

My conclusion is that their film is crap. I ordered from xTremeSkins and not sure if I only get a 1-pack or 2-pack, but as long as it doesn’t face the same issue as SopiGuard, I’ll be happy with the price!

I don’t think it’s a wet install. The xtremeskins is better. That too is a dry install even though they include a tiny spray bottle with liquid. Only the glossy films are wet install. I did it mainly for protection because my phone is in a silicone case so a perfect install is moot.

Always been installing my clear skins using the wet install method, regardless if it's flossy or not. Never had issues. It doesn't affect the matte effect.

Dry install is just too risky if you mess something up

Anyone here find a skin that has a cutout for the mmWave opening on the side of the phone?

Even if the back is already sticky? The stickiness makes it impossible to remove lint with a piece of tape though. Can water be used to remove lint?

Whenever I have a lint I know that it will almost be impossible to remove it, most you can do is try to pick it up with a needle or something very thin and sharp (but that's after I've applied it and the water has evaporated)

Not exactly sure if that's what you meant. I guess if you water the skin you can try to remove the lint, because it won't be sticky

Thanks for the reply. Next time I have to try the wet install. The hardest part is avoiding lint. My guess would be that wetting the back of the film would help avoid lint from sticking to it. Does the water also slow it to be positioned easier without having to lift the film?

I water both the phone and the skin, I feel like only watering one of them is not enough and it becomes sticky quickly again. It doesn't really matter if you position it with or without lifting the skin again, either is fine and I sometimes do both.

Make sure your phone and hands are pristine and you can even use some tape on your phone prior to installing the skin to remove any lint.

The downside of the wet install is that when you position it perfectly and squeezed all the water from the back to the sides, you have to leave your phone like that for at least 30-60mins so that the water can evaporate and you can begin the actual sticking part for the sides. Otherwise there's no point in trying to make it work, as it won't.

I just reordered the matte clear camera skin from xtremeskinz. This time I will attempt the wet install. Hopefully it will avoid lint issues.

I just installed the xTremeSkins matte back skin and going to let it dry for a couple of days but I’m disappointed.

It’s not precisely cut to just the back glass and overlaps the edges of the stainless steel frame. I don’t know if that’s going to cause lifting in the future because it’s not one continuous piece where the back glass meets the stainless steel frame, and because the skin is not precisely cut, I think there’s going to be an air pocket all around the edges.

I got the full clear skin from ArmorSuit via Amazon. Works well. I tend to prefer the dry sticker type matte skins from slickwraps, but I had so many CS and ordering issues with them in the past there was no way I was taking chances with that again. Didn't want to wait 3 months for arrival or be unable to reach anyone for a refund.
