Every now and then I still spot spot someone in the crowd holding an iPhone 4, and it never ceases to amaze me how much more beatiful that design was than the 6/6S... :( Not that the latter is ugly, but more like "okay".

agreed, iphone 4 was peak of iphone design, probably will remain a 'classic' for decades

Another upgrade to skip. Save 1000$ :)
I think it's worthwile to mention that most people don't think this way. When their contract's expired or they just want a new phone, they go to the shop and get the latest and best iPhone. For the majority of the people, it won't really matter that there is not much new stuff.

I don't get why people care about this. Either the new phone has something that makes you want to upgrade or it doesn't. And if it does who cares if it looks similar to last years phone? To me people wanting everyone to know they have latest and greatest is just plain vanity.

For me if the only thing about this phone is a better camera and no headphone jack I'll keep my 6S another year.

Do most people get a new phone every year? I'm going to assume you were in the minority.

Thing is competitors aren't waiting for Apple. Each year, Androif manufacturers producing some interesting looking and interesting phone.

This year we have LG G5 with modular design, BlackBerry Prive and Moto Z with attachments to enhance functionalities. Then we will have foldable screen etc.

While Apple is being just boring for past few years. You need admit that people are drawn from new design and interesting things. If you recycle your design for few iterations, people will bored and switch.

Hardware design and innovation is stealing, so is Apple's software. iOS 10 is so underwhelming.

Simple solution to fix the protruding lens... make the phone thicker, include a headphone jack and a HIGHER CAPACITY BATTERY.

How does that help them sell protective cases, battery cases, headphones, adaptors and Lightning licenses? We should consider ourselves lucky it still comes with a screen. Oh wait, can we see the front please?

One of the best phone designs. IF they improved upon the sides and made the stainless and glass level with each other it would be the best phone ever. Thats the only thing i didn't like about the phone was the glass and stainless middle wasn't all even.

Reminds me of Shelley from Hemlock Grove.
i miss that show.

i for one buy my gadgets for looks otherwise i would have bought a Samsung years ago

That's not what I meant. We already know that this years model won't look much different than the 6 and 6s, which is why I don't really care about the 20th backcover leak.

But I want to know if wireless charging, for example, is really coming.
I think the water resistance rumor is legitimate, and because of that a 3D Touch home button would also make sense.

i miss that show.

If the glass was level with the stainless steel band it would have resulted in far more broken screens from drops, as it was the stainless band took corner impacts pretty well and the glass was protected by the little frame around it. On more than one occasion I was able to 'rub' dents out of the corners with no more than a steel spoon and some elbow grease.

I miss the squared off design though, used to have a vinyl sticker on the back and sides rather than a case, wouldn't do that with my 6s Plus for fear of it smashing to bits, that and the sticker wouldn't sit right on the corners.

Why would you take a photo of the back and then not take one of the front too?

I never understand these 'leaked' photos, you do have to wonder if they are Apple deliberately drip feeding info so that case manufacturers etc can have something to work with.

why would you want to see the inside of the back cover? It may be interesting to some people, but most people would rather see the outside (front or back)

Considering my 6 plus is a Reddit/internet/kindle machine plus iMessages thrown in, I don't think I'll be upgrading for a while.

I don't know why, but I cringe every time I see "confirms" in a rumor article... That word should be reserved for Apple released information.

I understand that I'm just talking from a pure aesthetic point of view. I always thought it looked unfinished with those ridges and exposed glass. Gotta admit this is purty

Who cares about the exterior of the 2016 iPhone?
I am more interested in the 3D Touch home button, water resistance and wireless charging rumors.

...and performance. I agree with you although I'm not really into the wireless charing thing... but I'll take it if it's there :)

This year Apple should pretend the iPhone is another Mac Pro product and just skip the update.

What are people really expecting? The smart phone market is now mature and saturated. Soon they will be skipping releases, or release the same design with new internals.

How can a phone produce stereo sound if the speakers are few inches away from each other...? Two speakers won't be there to introduce stereo sound, it can only make the phone play sounds louder.

(Dr. Hank) Pym particles (sold separately of course). ;)

Down at an ant size or smaller, there will be tremendous stereo separation between those 2 speakers... might even be able to take a seat in the Lightning connector.
