I came here to say the same thing! This is the Peek all over again.View attachment 2592712

I don't remember the peek, but it did reminded me of this:

The only people I know who carry two phones are compelled to do so by their jobs. No one I know is carrying two phones electively. That Michael Fisher dude’s online handle is literally Captain Two Phones. This feels like his attempt to turn his personal technological fetish into a lifestyle.

In any case, I technically already have a second phone: my cellular-enabled Apple Watch.

I absolutely hated having to carry an extra phone for work. That extra phone caused so many mix-ups and lapses in communication, which was the opposite of its purpose. Who the hell would voluntary give themselves this burden?

That said, I'm increasingly disgruntled with the iPhone keyboard and wish there were a more accurate way to type. Swiping, predictive text and autocorrect have been useless.

Maybe I am too young but never in a million years would I go back to a physical mobile keyboard. My finger tips hurt just thinking about it.

I am currently using 3 phones (iPhone for work and two Foldables that I use simultaneously and it's driving my BF insane 😅

If this actually became popular (it won't), Apple would probably just Sherlock it and build it into iOS.

Can't you get this same effect just by deleting the default apps that distract you and not downloading the others? Maybe use parental controls on yourself. LOL

No, I will not be carrying this.

"The two-phone lifestyle is becoming more common?" Citation needed. Who does this nutjob think he is?

If someone legitimately needs two numbers, like a different number for work, I don't see why they wouldn't just get a second eSIM and run both lines off the same device. That's what I would do if that were my case.
Yea, seems pretty simple, until you accidentally send Friend group humor to Work group on accident 0_0 😂
On a serious note, most companies require you to have an MDM with "work" phone, allowing them to wipe it whenver they want. I want my personal phone to have nothing to do with work, but thats just me. It's mine, not theirs.

It's basically a reimagened BlackBerry. It can be your 2nd phone, it can be your main phone. And looking at the price and specs, for most people this is absolutely enough for a (single) smartphone. I also like that it has dual sim, microSD and a 3.5mm jack. I just wish Apple would make something similar: an iPhone + keyboard combo. I'd buy it sooner than a foldable, that's for sure.

This could be interesting if there was a way of getting my iMessages synced with it. Of course Apple would never allow that to happen but I like the idea of a distraction-free communication device.

I’m a huge Kindle fan so I kind of get what they’re trying to do here.

Because of FOMO that doesn't really work. The device doesn't limit you in any way to do so, so you will still doomscroll. Like posting a low speed limit on a high way. Here in the Netherlands we've learned that doesn't work without also redesigning the road for slower speed.

This phone, and others like it, is simply to do just that. A smaller screen, cluncky to use, etc. for it to be less a time sink.

I don't hate this device, especially since sometimes it feels like anything different would be nice. If the youths pick this up it will be everything, probably they won't. EDIT: by the way I have 6 iphones that are in use.

It's not difficult to stop an iPhone from being a content consumption device; remove the content consumption apps..no need for another gadget. I don't have video streaming apps, social media, or games on my iPhone. Simple.

As for two devices, I already have that and don't want another. Work-provided phone and personal and never the two shall mix.

I work in healthcare and a ton on my communication is under HIPAA. I don't want a single byte of said data on my personal phone, so two phones it is.
Also, you can leave your work phone at work. ;)

It's not for me, but I like seeing folks try stuff.

Did everyone forget the fun and interesting part of why tech can be so cool?

Sometimes I wonder if enough of the crowd here is young enough that the answer is actually "no" now.

😞
Yea, some of the WOW factor is gone. Even if lot of it didn't pan out, it was fun to see it and marvel at it. Tech may have advanced to the point people are just blasé.

People who carry two phones do so out of necessity, not choice. Why someone would voluntarily carry a second one is beyond me. For fun? I highly doubt it.

Yes, just tell thw alcoholic to not drink or a sports gambler to stop betting.

Addictions don't work like that.
Not sure this is a solution either, but simply saying to take something away isn't either.

That's an altogether different issue, but yes, screen addiction is a real thing.

I don't think this is meant for them.

My work gave me to a phone to carry for on-call pages...I forwarded it to my personal phone. No way am I going to carry 2 devices around with me. One is more than enough!
