It’s nicely executed, however carrying two phones on regular basis for normal person is a no no. My iPhone has got everything, living two separate OSes life is too troublesome.

I have the force-of-will not to scroll endlessly on social media (but I do scroll endlessly on MacRumours unfortunately) So this product isn't for me.

I'm way more interested in the magsafe battery bank with integrated sliding keyboard they also announced today:

Yeah - I ordered the battery keyboard. Mainly since I can use it as a battery for my Air, and as a keyboard for my Vision Pro. Using the keyboard in landscape on a phone sounds pretty nice as well.

Work phones typically go much further than simply being a separate phone number, and the device itself is provided from the company with specific accounts and apps etc, so simply using a second eSIM in your personal phone is not an option. However I agree with you that this product is very stupid and will absolutely not survive longer than 2 years, tops.
I disagree. I had a work e-sim and a work profile, with my email separated from my private email by using Apple Mail en Outlook. Worked like a charm. In the weekend I activated a 'private' profile which cut out all the work related stuff

It’s weird how out of touch this stupid phone is.

People are trying to type as little as possible in public now and use emoji. Why? Because in places like Europe if you are seen typing on a phone in public you might as well say goodbye to your phone.
I'm from Europe. What are you talking about? The phone thefts in London maybe? That's a local problem, not a European issue.

A classic solution in search of a problem. This addresses a specific market segment: people who want to carry an iPhone AND a Blackberry.

I’d be interested in this as a Light Phone alternative. There's been times where I’ve considered ditching my iPhone for a more minimal phone, even used my Apple Watch Ultra as one for a while. I don’t think I can fully commit to it, unless it had an App Store built in with some of the basic apps I regularly use though.

Edit: Apparently this does have a full store on it. It'd be nice if they can show more photos of the interface though.

"Communicator is to a smartphone what a Kindle is to an iPad.”
That’s a perfect analogy, because a Kindle is completely unnecessary if you have an iPad. There’s even a Kindle app for the iPad, so no need at all for a physical Kindle.

I don't know about you, but I don't want to carry two handheld devices. I don't want to carry one (give me an Apple Watch with a camera instead). That being said, typing on the iPhone is a frustrating experience at best and wish there was another solution. There are those click cases that attach a keyboard to the iPhone and makes the phone 25% longer and awkward to hold. Someone should make a case with a folding/ sliding keyboard in it.

I agree. I got this case and it was a nice idea but way too impractical, physically, especially with a Pro Max.

They did release a sliding keyboard that is a power bank. Had to preorder to give it a tat [edit: “test” … lol, making my point] run; but won’t be able to report back until “Spring”.

You obviously never had a real Kindle in hand. The electronic paper display is a complete different league to the iPad display regarding eye strain and power consumption, especially reading in the sun on the beach!

You know what, I like it.

If you want a keyboard you should be able to have one. Looks a good phone.

Many of us prefer e-ink to the point where we're happy to have a second device. I tried using my iPad mini for pure reading, but am back to having a Boox Color 7.

That said, I don't see the comparison as being the same, unless maybe you just really love Blackberry style buttons. :)

Yea, some of the WOW factor is gone. Even if lot of it didn't pan out, it was fun to see it and marvel at it. Tech may have advanced to the point people are just blasé.
In my goldeneye days we used to say how can they make anything look better than this? Now it can be difficult to tell whats real anymore. Again I ask the question, how could anything get any better than this? (neural link and inception :p)

I agree that this is more useful and versatile than the Clicks Communicator. I just pre-ordered the Power. I used to have the Clicks iPhone 14 Pro keyboard.

To all of the naysayers Clicks has been in existence since 2023. Most of you are clueless. 🤣

The company behind the BlackBerry-like Clicks Keyboard accessory for the iPhone today unveiled a new Android 16 smartphone called the Clicks Communicator.

The purpose-built device is designed to be used as a second phone alongside your iPhone, with the intended focus being communication over content consumption. It runs a custom Android launcher that offers a curated selection of messaging apps like Telegram, WhatsApp, Slack, and Gmail directly on the home screen.

"Communicator is to a smartphone what a Kindle is to an iPad," said Jeff Gadway, Chief Marketing Officer at Clicks Technology, in a press release. "It's a complementary product that stands on its own, optimized for a specific purpose. In the case of Clicks Communicator, that means communicating with confidence in a noisy world."

"The two-phone lifestyle is becoming more common," added Michael Fisher, co-founder of Clicks Technology and host of the tech-focused YouTube channel MrMobile. "Some people need a second phone for work, others want to be more intentional about how they use technology. At a time when everything is fighting for our attention, your phone should excel at helping you take action, not feeding distraction."

Like the Clicks Keyboard, the Clicks Communicator device itself has a physical keyboard. The device also features a so-called "Prompt Key" button on the side of the device that you can press and hold to dictate a text message.

The device is equipped with a USB-C charging port, a 3.5mm headphone jack, a 4,000 mAh battery, 256GB of built-in storage, a microSD slot for up to 2TB of additional storage, a 50-megapixel rear camera, a 24-megapixel front camera, and more. It has both a physical SIM card tray and eSIM support, with global support for 5G and LTE.

In the U.S., the Clicks Communicator will be available in the colors Smoke, Clover, and Onyx for an introductory price of $499. However, if you make a $199 deposit before February 27, you can lock in a discounted $399 price. Clicks Communicator is expected to begin shipping later this year, according to the press release. However, we strongly recommend exercising caution with pre-ordering a device like this prior to shipments beginning.

Clicks Communicator will be showcased at CES 2026 in Las Vegas next week.

huh? what's the point to all of this? Just go make a decent quality lit keyboard and use it as input to the iphone... smaller, cheaper, but again why ?

Remove the cameras, add Microsoft support, and price under $500 for an ideal government/enterprise device. The lack of cameras would be a security benefit for IT departments and a strong incentive for users to have a separate phone for personal use.
