After watching what went down in Puerto Rico I was actually thinking a satellite phone would be a nice thing to have for emergencies.

iPhones or any kind of cell phone is only as useful as the infrastructure that supports its use. Once that’s knocked out...well okay sure it makes a cool flashlight. But I have better flashlights for real emergencies.

1. the carbon footprint of Apple of 50 round trip United tickets per day to China - why not teleconference?

Because teleconferencing often does not satisfy all of the reasons business people travel. It may be OK for some meetings. But obviously business travel is often more than just discussion meetings.

I suspect Apple knows about teleconferencing and employees use that when it makes sense. Travel is greatly more expensive than teleconferencing.

According to Apple's report, of which only a portion of a statement was shared, the iPhone can work as a flashlight or a siren, provide first aid instructions, or serve as a radio. The device can be charged via hand cranks or car batteries, allowing it to work even when power is out.

Apple's new approach to trying to sell more iPhones.

And iPhone battery cases.

That’s not what people are saying, they’re saying the effects of climate change will be irreversible in 12 years if we don’t do anything to stop it. Big difference.

This is correct, but really doesn’t make a difference when debating ignorance.

People will listen to their political talking heads before scientists and facts.

The one thing I never understood about the debate is what if the facts and science are wrong? Let’s pretend there is no man made global warming/climate change. Let’s pretend we have an intelligent president who was correct in stating that it was a hoax created by China.

Then what are we gonna say? “Look at all this money we wasted taking care of our earth!” Doesn’t make sense to me.

Apple has excellent support, I've had some bad experiences but negated by mostly good ones, and a few exceptional ones at that! I will sing my praises of some of their AppleCare team til the cows come home.

BUT outside of that, getting pretty fed up with the fruit company / silicon valley's arrogance in general... Anyone else?

Cook is always cooking up a total load of BS, how long must it go on? No amount of products will convert me to their political ideology / indoctrinate me. Classic business decision mistake.

Ever heard dont mix religion and politics at the dinner table?

...Well definitely dont mix politics with business especially for a non-political sector.

Almost as bizarre as predatory Pedowood constantly telling me how I should live my life, instead of just providing entertainment to get my $$$. They are so distracted by trying to control people and how they think, that they've lost all talent. Recent movies are CRAP!

Climate change isn't going to help boost iPhone sales. Apple has already priced themselves out of the smartphone market as consumers are mainly interested in buying much cheaper smartphones than Apple offers. Anyone who thinks climate change is going to help Apple somehow is just grasping at straws. Most people don't even know what carbon footprint means, so they surely don't care about it. All you need to do is take a look at how many SUVs are being driven around daily with just one person onboard.

Apple iPhones might be built to last but most consumers would rather buy a cheap Android smartphone every year rather than buy an expensive iPhone and hold on to it for three years. Tim Cook is always tackling issues that no one cares about and it always ends up causing shareholders to lose money.

Ah yes - in the place where any political post on MacRumors would negatively affect your "social score" that could result in a multitude of bad things happening to you.

But maybe in a Charlie Sheen kinda way they are #winning?
Communism is winning because the US is broke.

Well, at least we would have a solution for the fact that we rely on fossil fuels for our ever-increasing energy needs...

My old Moto G3 had a built in FM radio. Wired headphones acted as the antenna. Neat feature.

I don't know a single person who buys a cheap smartphone every year. Even Android users want more bells and whistles, not to mention quality and longevity, than something that needs to be replaced annually.
