Unlike many of you I do not think that the 6the generation was a screw up. I do think the 5the was.
I bought my first Ipod nano like about 5-6 years ago. And it was the best mp3 I ever had. It was the 2the generation. And I never even once complained about it. For me an Ipod needs to be able to play music and to have a battery that last long. Back in those days you were able to find those.
(i'm talking about the Ipod nano, I now that the Ipod classics are pretty good
)
2 years ago, when the new Ipod nano came out (the 5the generation). I fell immediately in love with him. It looked a lot like my old own, just you know 10 times better. So I bought it, and sadly for me I still use it.
There are three things in this world that I really love.
The first thing is irrelevant and quiet boring to most of you so I will keep that one to myself. My 2nd greatest love is running (long distance). I run 4 times a week, and not just half an hour. I mean like 1-3 hours training.
While I run I listen to music, so I need an mp3. And since I also love apple products, it's a fun combination.
Every time I go running the Ipod is wind up around my upper arm. I can't put him in my pocket, because my shorts (and other shorts that are mend for running usually don't have one). But i don't ****ing care where my Ipod is as long I hear it, it's fine.
But my Ipod has these "FUN" extras. You know like when you lay him horizontal, the menu changes with it. It's real fun and totally useless, until off course you go running and wind him to your upper arm. Then you will use that application.....wether you want it or not.
Because, you see when you go running you make these motions with your arms. On a certain point the Ipod will be horizontal, the menu changes. And that is no problem because on a certain point the Ipod will be vertical and then the menu will change again. At least that's what you think it would do. But big surprise it doesn't.
That fun extra on my Ipod works to slow, and is the reason why I can't chose the songs on my Ipod or change the volume any time I go running. It's pretty frustrating.
My Ipod has other fun extras, they're still useless but not as irritating. I still just don't get why people want a camera on there Ipod. I mean if your truly passionate by photography (like my mother). You won't be satisfied by some little black thing, that people here are calling a camera. And I mean seriously who the hell actually uses that ???
So the 6the generation was perfect for me. It's totally different then all the other Ipod's. The menu is different, it's smaller, it has touch screen, a clip on the back side and all the fun extras are gone. In a way it's more basic. The Ipod was designed so that you could use it everywhere, and that it also would be easier while sporting. For me they reached that goal.
If the 7the generation would look like a 6the generation without a clip, then that goal would be ruined. Since the Ipod is small and only consists of touch screen, it's not easy to make good accessories. And not likely that there will be one for running. (if you think that the wrist/watch thing is a good accessory for running, then your wrong)
So you would have to hold the Ipod. I can tell you this out of experience, that If you go running for more then an hour. And do this 4 times a week for 1 month that the touch screen will be ruined. Mostly because of the sweat.
I'm not saying that the 7the generation won't have clip, I'm just saying that they shouldn't remove it. Because otherwise you won't be able to use the mp3 while sporting. And that kinda was there initial goal with 6the generation.
I'm a big fan of the apple products, and even though I'm complaining about the 5the generation. It's still a lot better then all the other mp3's and I still love it. So It's not really a screw up. And whether the 7the generation is gonna have a clip or not. I now I'm gonna end up buying it.
