I'm glad, if only because adding a video-camera likely means the return of the option to play video. If it plays video, I'll buy it.

Still no Blu-Ray.

No Bluray. No Thunderbolt. No built-in toaster.. Shame on you Apple.

If there's no toaster in the next iPhone I'm switching to Android.

The form factor of the current nano is a miss, a rear camera will not fix that. At least they got the shuffle right.

The clip is clearly there and there's a cut out in the clip for the lens to shoot through.

THIS. You can clearly see the clip. There is no reason they would drop the clip, it pretty much make is useless. With it being so small and no clip, how would that be functional?

Pretty crazy how few people can see the clip still there in the picture. Take another look.

I like the magnetic clip idea. It would give incredible mounting flexibility. You could even embed magnetic patches into clothing and hats (some ball caps already have that) and attach the nano directly to your clothes, no clip needed.

A nano with a magnet inside would be great (as long as it was a strong one).

Maybe there will be a camera on the next Nano, but the image supplied by the site seems to be faked...

1. not sure about camera modules designed to fit in hex screw holes
2. some distorted edges around the alleged camera hole
3. Apple logo not centred, slightly towards the left and top
4. Apple logo edge "blurriness" not the same size as iPod's fringe (much bigger).

I wish they'd brought back the previous Nano.

I've seen the same proclamation of fakes from Apple.pro in the past, however they have an excellent trackrecord on these things.

Interesting. Can't wait to see what Apple will do this year for the nano.

Anyone consider that maybe this is an unfinished case? I think it's almost certain this is not a camera based on previous and current Apple camera installations. But just because we see this case now doesn't mean this is what we are going to see when it is finally unveiled - I'm guessing that whatever attaches to it, possibly permanently - will entirely cover this bare, shiny metal. It really is in line with Apple design trends to do away with it and come up with something more clever.

On another note, the current clip is one of the turn-offs of the Nano for me - as soon as I saw it, I was hoping to see an easy way to remove it. It nearly doubles the thickness for something I don't want and would never use. I doubt I'm alone.

Looks more like a clear protective sticker to me. There's a small tab sticking up at the bottom edge.

That's what I initially thought. Now; I'm not so sure it isn't both. Could be we just have a bad angle of a camera peering through a clip with a protective film on.

Apple, if this is true, has NO idea what to do with the Nano. Especially if they raise price. That small Nano with less function for the same price was ridiculous. It should come far down in price or increase size and function again.

No, there's no clip on the back for certain - we'd see shadows and highlights from around the edge of the clip itself, which are absent. I'm almost certain there's some kind of protective film wrapped around that, probably to keep the finish from getting beaten up - think how iPads, iMacs, Macbooks, etc. are wrapped in that clear stuff.

Perhaps Apple is going to introduce these early in order to have something new between now and the anticipated Sept. iPod/iPhone event.

Clip on camera + Facetime

I don't see the purpose of a back facing camera. This thing is so small, it would be difficult to hold it and operate the touch screen without covering the back. You'd have to fiddle with such a small device using both hands.

On the other hand, as useless as it may appear at first, a camera would better suit this generation iPod nano than the last clickwheel nano.

A front facing camera would not only introduce yet another device to FaceTime but you would also be able to use it as a clip on camera for sports. Clip it on to your jacket and go snowboarding for example. Strap it on as a watch and you've got yourself a very Dick Traceyesque video phone watch.

I'm careful not to dismiss leaks as fake "because Apple would never do that" but in this case, losing the clip goes against the entire marketing effort that Apple has been working on to position the nano as a fashion accessory and a sports music player that you can wear.

Cosmetically, I hope for a hardware update that rounds the corners. Currently, the way in which the square screen with a round border meets the straight corners is very jarring. A tapered iPad like design would be quite beautiful at this size.

So fake

this is cleary FAKE! , how ugly is that camera its so unapple it doesnt go along with the hidden flushed cameras in the ipads macbook or the old nanos

I could be mistaken, but a clip-on which could fasten to the lip of a shoe and which has a video camera would make for quick and easy upskirt shots. I commend Apple for thwarting perverts everywhere.

The rest of you who are saying this is a great idea are a bunch of sickos!

iPod Nano - bluetooth

Assuming this news is a rumour with some basis....

I think Apple would be better to take the current Nano-watch application one step further and see if they can't add a bluetooth function for those who enjoy sports and want the extra functionality an iPod Nano could provide (with such apps as the Nike for example) and the convenience of wireless headphones with the Nano in a convenient place on their wrists.

Personally, I think this would make better sense of the touch-screen shuffle (aka Nano) and provide more usefulness than a nano with a 1.3 megapixel useless camera. Most people have better cameras on their mobile phones which they most likely carry around with them constantly.

Just my opinion.

Thats not a camera, its likely a 'clip connection'. I'm sure the nano will come with a clip, but you'll be able to screw it off. It will make the profile lower if you want to attach via other means. For example as a lower profile watch band or to a necklace.

I'm really hoping they also integrate the dual mode screen Apple patented last year. The screen was a hybrid LCD / epaper screen. The epaper part could show a clock, or current album, all the time and not effect battery life.

I agree with you. The early photos showed a round hole, now there is a hex pattern in it so it looks like it is a clip connector that screws into the hole and holds a new type of clip with the option of removing the clip for a watch type carrier. Heck you might even be able to wear it around your neck on a loop or something.
Now if they would only make a 32 GB option I would buy it as my 16GB is getting full.

I think you've got the idea here - no camera, but it definitely would be perfect for hanging onto a lanyard or beltclip, whatever, something quick-releaseable. I'm sure Apple will have something very clever and very Apple style to sell on launch day.

That would seem more likely. The hole is clearly hex shaped and deep with no glass lens which seems odd for a camera but prefect for a quick release connector.

I really hate apple's thinking of smaller is better, I think it needs a larger screen (though still portable), and a capacity bump.

Camera? I couldn't care less.

May be a fake or perhaps a sensor akin to those on ABC type watches. Since the nano has become a wearable watch, having altitude, barometer, compass features would make this a very versatile accessory appealing to a much broader audience.

I want it to be able to infinitely supply me with beer so when the party runs out of bud light people won't leave/attack each other.
