i think akwasi just cleverly shopped the pic as sarcasm because all of us a re speculating on a picture that is more than likely fake. Given the correct lighting, you cna make photoshop adjustments to the box realistic.

Yeah i found it dead easy and i'm no photoshop pro.

shouldda made the bolt pictures lighter though. I stole them from the image in the very first post for this thread.

Really? You're surprised that you can't get the latest functionality with an old display?

I have no idea what the middle/end part of your reply meant, but you clearly _don't_ know what daisy chaining means.

In simple terms.

Do you have a display with a mini display port adaptor? You do realize that currently there is only ONE monitor available that uses that technology. I have one. Its made only by apple. The only ports it has on the back are USB ports.

If you connect the mini displayport to this display, presuming the thunder thigh technology is also embedded in this port, then please tell me how you can daisy chain from my cinema display out throuhg the USB ports at the back of teh display?

SO, if i connect my expensive cinema display to my MBP using the Mini Display Port connection, I lose the ability to use the thunder thigh interface. hence why its a stupid solution unless Apple introduce a new cinema display with thunder thigh connections at the back of the display to enable daisy chaining. Simple. Understand?

One would assume it's the end of the chain and peripherals are coming with daisy chain compatibility.

Did anyone else just see the commercial for the new HTC 4G phone "thunderbolt" ? What are the odds?

In this video.

Also, a comment listed below the article:

"There are two ways to use Light Peak. If all devices have Light Peak connectors, you can daisy chain them all together as in the video demo. Each device uses the protocol that it needs simultaneously... the Monitor is speaking video HDMI-like protocol and the hard drive is speaking something closer to a data protocol over USB or Firewire.

Or...

You could connect a breakout box via Light Peak that has USB 2, FIrewire, Ethernet, HMDI and USB 3 ports. Then you use standard HDMI connector for monitor, USB 2 for hard drive and Ethernet connector for network.

Either way, you only need one connector on your PC/Mac. Then, either a daisy chain for "new devices with Light Peak Ports" or a breakout box and standard connectors.

If you want to use current Monitor/Keyboards/Drives: use the breakout box.

Or buy new devices next year when they arrive on the market with Light Peak connectors."

The breakout box thing would be a solution for the guy freaking out about the display.

Seems to me that Apple are going to make the monitor the breakout box. Connect magsafe and thunderthigh and get firewire and usb on the monitor.

You've been..

T-H-U-N-D-E-R Struck.. yeah yeah yeah

I'm waiting with my credit card for the latest release.

Does anyone else find it kind of ironic that this new technology that's supposed to use light to transfer data because its must faster than using electricity is called Thunderbolt?

Not at all. Indications are that this will be the copper, not fiber, version using electricity, not light.

Intel has plainly indicated that the price of fiber is too high and that there are still some durability issues to be worked out with it.

This one is almost certainly copper and electricity.

I really hope this is a fake...how Apple would make its brand new I/O port also the display port make no sense...I have my display always connected to my MBP so any old display/non apple display you have would make this port useless any only for display purposes.

I know Apple is not that dumb...
