Just thought I am getting the usual out of the way.

"SJ would have / wouldn't have"
"Never going to happen / will happen"
"Will never sell / I will queue three days in a line"
"It will / won't be called iPhone <insert xyz here>"
"I move to Android / Windows"
"Looks awesome / sh****"
"Share Price Up"
"Share Price Down"
"Safari is snappier"

So now that's out of the way ... Moving on :)

You forgot, iOS 7 icons are ugly... which they are by the way... :D

It does look like a cheaper iPhone and not this gal's thing. I'm not into bling, but I'm used to the existing design.

I hope it is durable and lasts a long time for those who buy it.

It sure doesn't look durable. And the taste in anemic colors is perplexing. But then the iPod Nano's current colors are pretty weak too. I'm not liking this so far :(

All scratched up - seems about right.

That's what I thought at first too. But on closer examination I think it's possible that what look like scratches are actually the wrinkling of one of those thin, clear, protective, shrinkwrap films they attach to devices when shipping -- the ones people are supposed to remove when the get the product but half of them never do.

I feel like if they want to go the multi-coloured route, they should go with more Lumia-esque bold colours instead of these washed out bodily fluid colours that have allegedly been leaked.
For real. I'm ok with plastic, but the colors I've seen so far are atrocious.

Good luck with that.

What really bothers me is that - when Apple has a winner in the chamber, it keeps it a total secret, but when it's a real stinker, like iPhone 5 being only a 4" screen - it leaks like a sieve, to lower public expectations.

My expectations couldn't be lower on this front.

Taking this one step further, they pre-announced the new Mac Pro. How much of a stinker does that make IT ??

All these products are designed 2 years ahead of time, so if they don't turn out to meet the market, Apple has to rely on the fans talking up the misses.

They are going to sell a million billion of these cheaper phones. People always want the new thing. Who cares if this is a "cheaper" phone, your giving the consumer a new choice, one they did not have before... color!

I'd like to see at least one other color choice for the full version too. Metallic red for the product red campaign could be nice. I think apple is making a good move by providing a cheaper option and making them colorful. So many parent-friends if ours bought their kids cheap windows or droid phones because didn't want the risk of losing/breaking the only [expensive] iPhone option. Apple will see their demographic expand and get more lifelong customers. Hook them young.

Actually, the color of the phone doesn't matter that much.
Why?
Because if you're going to spend around 300 $ for a "cheap" iPhone, it means you can't afford a "real" one. Therefore, this investment is an expensive one for your budget, and you want to protect it.
This is why, just like I always did with my iPods, you'll buy a hard cover anyway, so that the phone doesn't break in 1.000 pieces whenever it falls off the table (and it will often most likely).

=> It's the color of the cover you buy that matters :D

Multi coloured products always feel cheaper. They should have stuck with black and white.

The iPod touch colours look ok when you see them in the shops. I like the return to colours for Apple. Black and white is so dull. The more choice the better.

Just please let it be heavier than that junky-feeling iPhone 5!

If it's heavier, I'm in!

is it opposite day today?

You can make something that's cheap (i.e. inexpensive) without it looking cheap. This looks like a part you'd find on a cheap kids toy.

Apple hasn't made anything look this cheap since the clamshell iBooks. Apple spent the past 10 years making and designing products that are not only eye-pleasingly beautiful but also a pleasure to use. Why would they want to head down the road of fugly designs again?

eye of the beholder, my friend. so far i havent seen anything that offends me. just looks like a colored plastic phone to me. id really need to see one in person to develop any more detailed opinions on it.

It sure doesn't look durable.

how could you possibly ascertain that from some unofficial snapshots? get real.

huh? the iphone5 is the greatest phone ive owned in 14 years, with my nokia 8860 being a close runner up. and it's the single-best-selling handset on the market. hardly a stinker.
