Could just snatch MGM from Amazon for a mere $9B.it would actually be 300-400 billion and it would be worth it.

Does Apple have $500 billion? What they need to do is buy Disney
The MGM purchase is almost useless. That studio doesn’t even own the rights to their own classics and neither do they have the full rights to James Bond, for instance, they are not allowed to make spin-offs or a Bond „Universe“Could just snatch MGM from Amazon for a mere $9B.
Disney is already at $320 billion market cap. Add a 50 percent premium to that and you get ~$500 billion.it would actually be 300-400 billion and it would be worth it.
Viacom be an easier target and less expensive.Apple needs to acquire WarnerDiscovery or its streaming plans are dead in the water.
Cue "expressed interest" in a full acquisition of Time Warner, but Cook was not ready to agree to the deal, which would have been somewhere around $100 billion. Neither Cook nor Bewkes expected to reach an acquisition deal, and Time Warner was ultimately sold to AT&T.
At $100 billion, Apple would have overpaid. AT&T only paid $85.4 billion for Time Warner Inc.Apple should’ve pulled the trigger on purchasing TW. Had they, their Apple TV+ service would’ve had a wealth of back catalogue to offer along with original content.
They have that much stuck in the cracks of the sofa.Does Apple have $500 billion?
Why do big companies need to keep buying other big companies? I don't think I like the idea of a media monopoly, and Disney is already bad enough buying up companies on their own. What they need to do is buy Disney

$320bn at today’s market cap valuation plus a takeover premium. It would probably take like $500 billion to buy them lol
and we might have tons of Warner movies in 4K on iTunes by now.Apple should’ve pulled the trigger on purchasing TW. Had they, their Apple TV+ service would’ve had a wealth of back catalogue to offer along with original content.

If what you described is their strategy, it's a terrible one.I think where Apple was going is that they would like the user to create their own library of content by subscribing to additional channels or buying extra iTunes content, or both. Apple’s original content is there to draw users into opening the TV app.
In this context, a back catalogue wouldn’t fit their goals at all. You spend billions on content that may not fit in with your overall theme, is likely already replicated by other streaming services like Netflix, and dissuade users from buying other content.
It’s just setting a huge pile of money on fire.

Apple TV+ would be more attractive to me if it included a back catalogue of films and TV shows from iTunes.
