Apple should’ve pulled the trigger on purchasing TW. Had they, their Apple TV+ service would’ve had a wealth of back catalogue to offer along with original content.

Yeah well Time Warner or parts of it and precursor / successor outfits have now been involved in two deals that Wall Street loathed from the get go and that did not work out anywhere near as well as the originators boasted they would at the time. Remember the AOL-TW merger and all the talk of "synergy"? That thing was rightly tagged as the worst deal in the history of mergers and acquisitions... until AT&T decided to give it a shot!

There's something about those content libraries and production capabilities that just seem too good to be true in prospective dealmaking.... and twice now they have ended up BEING too good to be true after the paperwork is cut.

Not to trivialize either geopolitical wars or financial ones, and not to politicize this thread, but efforts to maximize value of Time Warner / Warner Media (and the spun off bits of those in the meanwhile) can remind one of how the world once watched France bollix trying to get Indochina under control, and then watched the US step in to say "watch how it's done, guys"... Maybe all this stuff is backwards and it's Warner Media that should declare itself off limits and stick to making deals for production and licensing. Kinda like Vietnam said ya know what, y'all get outta here and we'll decide who runs this outfit and for what purpose: stop by and shop our products and labor markets later on!

If Apple had bought TW it's possible they could have done something with it that neither AOL nor later AT&T thought to try, but if you ask me they were right to back away. There is such a thing as buying more pizza than you can eat, and the leftover pieces of a corporate acquisition are not as much fun (or manageable) as leftover pizza. I like it that so far Apple has moved into content creation instead.

Seems like everything I read about Eddy Cue sounds like he's made Apple lose its roots.

He brought Apple Music to Android.
Apple has never been in the content business before, but that changed with TV+.
TV+ constantly advertises via push notifications.
Apple Arcade? What problem is Apple solving? We now have Games and Apple Arcade tabs on the bottom of the App Store which takes up 40% of the row.
Constant advertising in Settings to sign up for Apple Pay, Arcade, TV+, iCloud storage, etc...
Exclusive discounted Amazon cut for bringing their video platform onto their ecosystem.

Seems like everything he's done after Steve passed is a pure money grab and not really solving user problems. Tim Cook allowed this stuff because he needed to grow Apple to answer the board and shareholders...

Though, he did push for iMessage Android and AirPlay to be built in to third party TVs. I guess that's the bright side, but that is still losing Apple's roots.
What’s so wrong about me being able to listen to my subscription on a Galaxy I used for the last 5.5 years, before switching back to iOS?

Also, you can turn off those notifications simply by agreeing to the offer OR just directly tapping the Not Interested option. I chose that for Arcade, which simply doesn’t offer the same gaming experience as my Xbox.

I'm not saying Apple Music for Android is a bad thing, but it's not very Apple like. And before you mention iTunes, iTunes existed on Windows because it was essential to sync to your computer to use the device. Apple Music isn't an essential thing.

I know how to turn off notifications. But I got one for Arcade, Apple Music, iCloud storage, and TV+ on my 2 iPads and iPhone. Also TV app had dumb sports notifications even though I never agreed to receive notifications from that app.

Steve once said "We built products that we want for ourselves too and we just don't want ads so we can't get there." and here I am receiving ads.

They could have bought Pluto TV and been on every single streaming device. But that ship sailed years ago.

Who cares about something that didn't happen over 5 years ago? "Let me tell you about the time I didn't take a vacation...."

Apple likes to build things up from the group up as much as possible. But in this area I wish they would pullout their cheque book and actually compete.

Edit: Now MGM has some actual money behind it, I hope the finally bring back Stargate :)

Seems rather strange this is coming from you. Although I do agree.

The whole service strategy will backfire someday. ( If it hasn't already happened )

iTunes is a store for content providers to sell or rent movies and shows. What in the world makes you think apple would be able to use it in their atv+ service?
Because everyone else has managed to negotiate a catalogue of films and tv shows for their streaming services.

not sure what you mean by "strange...coming from you". i've always been critical of Apple as well as supportive.
