We're not comparing CNN TV...

We're comparing cnn.com to the iPhone app. Cnn.com, last time I checked, wait, let me check again, ah, yes, it's free, 100% free and it's got ads to make it that way. Now, if you're going to charge people to view your content on the internet it's been a long established norm that pay = no ads. If CNN doesn't want to follow this that's fine but I hope all of you people who are paying realize that you're paying for something you can get, legally, 100% free on your computer.

Don't try the "it cost money to make the app" argument either because it costs much, much more to maintain cnn.com and update it etc than it did to make this app and the website is still free.

Free = ad supported, paid = supported via paying for it. You shouldn't support companies that are trying to double dip - especially multi-billion dollar ones that are just trying to squeeze every last cent out of you they can.

If I am paying for an app there there should not be any ads in it. That is just complete BS. I don't care how unobtrusive the ads are.

Agreed. This would be like HBO suddenly cramming commercial breaks in the middle of it's movies. We pay a premium for that channel because it is commercial free. I expect apps to be the same way. Lots of free apps have ads for a reason, they are free. Paid apps are making the dev money so we should expect them to be ad free.

I too rarely watch TV anymore due to the commercials. I buy all my TV shows on iTunes because they are commercial regardless of how much they cost.

Why not? The more they charge, the more money that will go towards Obama's re-election campaign.

I bought it, but can't find the live feed. How do I get to it?

Also, are the push notifications counted against your SMS?

I do have a life, which is precisely why I don't like to waste my time watching ads. Good call. ;)

Which is part of the reason I subscribe to neither. Who reads magazines and newspapers these days, anyway? Yesterday's stale news? No thanks.

I dont think they have live feed 100% of the time, Only on certain occassions. As for push notifications, No they do not count against your SMS..

Do all the grow up responses belong to apple and or cnn employees? Possibly former communist leaders? CONFORM EVERYONE, ITS LESS OF A HEADACHE WHEN WE THINK FOR YOU*.

Honestly with the great amount of free choices one can pick (its called FREEDOM OF CHOICE*), the CNN app will likely have to get cheaper. Just because the cable industry is pretty set in their practices, doesn't mean we should let formats we don't like exist just because they have already. We're the consumers and the corporations should be working for us, not the other way around.

*Hi I'm a Mac, and I'm a PC respectively. Ohhhh I'm just kidding. I'm a fan of both.

No, he's right, you need to grow up. ANYBODY complaining about this excellent news app using ads, needs to also grow up.

Again, what correlation does growing up have to do with this?

People of all ages on many forums (and in their reviews) apparently don't like it.

This idea of "That is how the world works" really doesn't answer the question of connecting the two because of how incredibly broad that answer is.

It's ok if you have nothing else to add other than not liking what someone said. Just admit that rather than trying to be 'cool' online with petty insults
