I didn't watch the entire game but from what I did see, I was so surprised at how successful Oklahoma was, particularly running - they were able to get the sideline and then make some serious yardage.

I'm not sure how the 2014 Alabama team will look like but they need to take a serious look at a number of areas.

The pregame show was all but giving the win to Alabama, nice to see the sooners coming out to play :D

One thing that I hated seeing during this bowl season was ESPN's stupid "power index" where they say Team A was going to beat Team B by x points. I don't think they got those predictions right at all and with a little luck we'll not see them scroll continually across the screen next year

i am not a fan of giving the game to someone in the pre show. i usually don't watch those anyway.

and, i know it is going to sound like i'm on the SEC wagon here, but the 1985 Sugar Bowl/Tennessee vs Miami the guys on the telly all but gave that game to Miami before the kickoff. Miami went up 7 zip then UT rolled out 35 points. I was at that game. Lots of deflated Miami fans coming out of the Superdome. ;)

First, QB. I don't care what you want to call McCarron, game manager or star QB. Whoever Alabama has at QB (who is a 5-star recruit?) has to at least match the production McCarron had to make up for the other deficiencies Alabama has.

Second, offensive line. While not as good as past o-lines Alabama had, they were pretty solid and another year would do wonders. It's going to come down whether or not the Kouandijo brothers enter the draft or not (they're saying 50/50?).

Defense (overall). Biggest loss is C.J. Mosley. Trey DePriest came on throughout the year so if he's able to step up and become replace Mosley, it isn't that big of a loss. DB's have to be the weakest link on this defense. Way too many big plays given up late in the season. They have flashes here and there but I feel they lack the range that Dee Milliner had. If Alabama had pressure, those DB's could clamp down but if they don't, they were getting beat badly.

I want to trust Saban and his recruiting but I think next year Alabama won't crack top 5. In all of those BCS wins, Saban had a team that was able to transition between teams. This year I felt that Alabama couldn't do that but they still pulled out wins but that eventually caught up with them and with even more star players entering the draft with unknowns to replace them, it's going to be even more difficult next year.

There was tremendous elation for OU after that win and I think it's all based on the fact that the opponent was Alabama. Beating any other team ranked 4 thru 9 wouldn't have felt like a major win for them (the way bama probably would have felt if they had won).

I don't think I've ever seen a team go 4 for 4 scoring touchdowns on an opponent's turnovers.

OU vs Bama

We got beat by a very good team. Our defense could not stop them, we gave away 21 points..oh well wait till next year

I was too busy partying all New Years Day (until 2am) before stumbling off to work before my day off today to check this thread.

Glad that MSU overcame a terrible start and uncharacteristic mistakes (mostly at the start) to beat Stanford. It was still too close at the end, even though MSU had easily dominated play. Gotta love the Rich Homie Quan locker room celebration. If FSU rolls Auburn (or at least a double digit win), they could sneak as high as #2 in the final polls. Definitely have #3 locked up.

Not terribly shocked at another disappointed Bama team choking in its bowl (see: Utah) or at the poor defensive performance (been multiple poor D performances this year), but am surprised it was OU to do it. Their offense had been horrible for much of the year.

An aside: I didn't watch a ton of the game as we were watching the Winter Classic, but I was pleasantly surprised to see Iowa hold its own. Looked like their D kept them in the game, but their offense couldn't overcome LSU's D.

Here is what we have in the top fifteen so far
1 Florida State
2 Auburn
3 Alabama - lost to #11 Oklahoma
4 Michigan State - beat #5 Stanford
5 Stanford - lost to #4 Michigan State
6 Baylor - lost to #15 Central Florida
7 Ohio State - lost to #12 Clemson
8 Missouri - beat #13 Oklahoma State
9 South Carolina - beat #19 Wisconsin
10 Oregon - beat unranked Texas
11 Oklahoma - beat #3 Alabama
12 Clemson - beat #7 Ohio State
13 Oklahoma State - lost to #8 Missouri
14 Arizona State - lost to unranked Texas Tech
15 UCF - beat #6 Baylor

Does anyone have a clue who will move where? It looks to me like the huge losers – Baylor, Alabama and OhSU – should drop out of the top ten, and the huge winners – Oklahoma, Clemson and UCF – should probably move into it. What about Stanford, though, should they be knocked out of the top ten?

Of all these teams, it looks like the Ducks fared the worst: even though they won, convincingly, their patsy was an unranked team that was just happy to be there, they will gain little or no ground. Does anyone know how the BCS computation actually works here?

Not surprisingly Clemson beat OU - I didn't see the entire game but from what I did see both Boyd and Watkins and a great game. I figured Boyd would be too much for the Buckeye defense.

One more game and then its the long wait time for the 2014 season to begin

MIZZOU won too, i was hopping between the two games. Both were enjoyable.

I will be at the Vanderbilt vs Houston game today! I'll be wearing a Vandy hat. Look for me to give ya a wave!

;)

I'll take a shot. I am assuming FSU wins by 7+.

1. Florida State
2. Michigan State
3. Auburn
4. Missouri
5. Oklahoma
6. South Carolina
7. UCF
8. Oregon
9. Clemson
10. Alabama
11. Stanford
12. Ohio State
13. LSU
14. Louisville
15. Baylor

Could also see UCLA bumping Louisville or Baylor out. Also could see UCF getting bumped anywhere from 7-12 really. Was thinking of putting Mizzou at 3, but unless Auburn gets whipped, I figure they won't drop too much.

Thanks. I do disagree with where you put Alabama, they lost quite convincingly to Oklahoma. The Rose Bowl was somewhat closer, but not really much of an upset (except for the turf-accountants). I think I would be pushing Alabama below Stanford.

And you are quite mistaken about Monday's game, Auburn will actually win, leaving 3 teams tied at 13-1 – such fun. I kind of lament the playoff idea, controversy and dispute is what college football should be about.

Is it me, or did the Longhorns have a lot of trouble filling their head coach position? Its no knock on [ex]louisville coach Charlie Strong, but they kept lowering the bar in who that wanted as head coach. Many of the folks on their short list said thanks but no thanks.

I thought it odd how they wanted Jimbo Fisher who is going for a national championship with FSU - why would he even consider such a job when he's in a great school and he brought it back to prominence.

The playoff is long overdue in college football. Let the teams decide the Championship on the field.

He got a raise like Saban did..

While I'm sure most of you didn't notice, Vanderbilt beat Houston 41-24 this weekend.

I was fortunate enough to be there! (yeah i know there were many empty seats)

Great game. Vandy scored 24 unanswered points and led at the half 24-0.
Houston scored 24 unanswered points and tied it up 24-24 by the end of the 3rd.
Vandy scored 17 unanswered points and won. And those last 17 game from running the wildcat!

The stadium, Historic Legion Field in Birmingham, AL, is archaic and in disrepair.

I went to a US World Cup qualifier there way back in 2004, I think, and it was suffering from tornado damage and parts of the stadium were blocked off and labeled as "dangerous".

Not much has changed. And the urban blight in and around it is shameful.

From what I gather UAB would like to purchase the stadium from the city and renovate it. So far the city has said "No.".

Well, who saw this coming? Everyone was sure that Florida State would control this game...

I've been saying this for a month. FSU has basically played a season of no names... minus Clemson. Who cares if they win 80 to 0 vs almost no talent. Look at who Auburn has played this season...

This is a great game :D

Incase I wasn't clear - GO AUBURN!
