War Damn Eagle!

Before the Iron Bowl, the question was, "Can Auburn run like that on Alabama?" Now the question is, "Can anyone stop Auburn from running like that?"

I don't know...Florida State has something like six NFL prospects on defense. I don't think they can play them all at the same time on every play, however, without wearing them out.

No one seems to have an answer. The stock one is, "the defensive players must remain disciplined in their assignments." Good luck with that theory!

Auburn's offense is really something to be studied. You're going to see a lot more versions of it at other schools starting next year, I would think.

The BCS game is expected to be a high-scoring where-is-the-defense affair, but a month is a long time and I expect one or both of the teams will be a little stale on offense...sort of the way it went in 2010 with Auburn v. Oregon.

Regarding the playoff...the more teams you have in it the less the regular season means. If they had the four team setup this year Auburn would be playing Alabama again!

Maybe, but I assume the committee would seed it:

1 FSU vs 4 Alabama
2 Auburn vs 3 Michigan St

I don't think anyone would mind an Iron Bowl rematch too terribly if both won their first round games. An eight-team playoff makes regular season, in-conference rematches a little less likely since the selection committee can move things around.

Well even though Auburn beat Alabama and that still stings but damn it feels good watching Ohio State and Urban Cryer lose. Even a few of Urban's players from Florida are happy to see this. KARMA.....

This is the only time of year when I go for Auburn, so lets hope they beat FSU and keep the bcs title in the state of Alabama for 5 years in a row!

Oh I loved the loss. Loved it! Hate Mr. Myers and I was so waiting for him to hold a press conference to announce his retirement from College Football again! hahaha :D

Saban to TX ?

any thoughts? Hopefully he will stay, but right now I think he is gone..

I think he put it best saying at his age, he didn't really want to start over rebuilding a program. I'm not sure he'll stay at Alabama but if he leaves, it may be due to his desire to retire and not go to Texas.

I personally think he would enjoy the challenge of a rebuild, but the combination of his family settling down in Alabama, the fact that he basically has a blank check from Bama to match anything Texas offers, and the unnecessary stress from leaving one situation where he is a legend to another where he would be replacing a living legend is tough.

I mostly think it's his agent (and UTs wonderfully open failures to rid themselves of Brown) doing a wonderful job leveraging a max extension for his client.

Side note: Anyone interested in a macrumors bowl pick 'em group for fun?

he is a bit of a living legend himself though, no? new grand baby on the way too and i think that will keep him in Bama too...

Doesn't Alabama currently have a 5-star recruit at QB to replace McCarron and another 4-star behind him? With most of this years team returning, if that 5-star QB plays like his ranking, I don't see Alabama slowing down anytime soon...

Jameis Winston wins the Heisman Trophy.

ESPN.com said:
Winston ran away with the ballot, earning 2,205 points. Alabama quarterback AJ McCarron was second with 704 points. Northern Illinois quarterback Jordan Lynch was third with 558 points.

Boston College's Andre Williams was the top running back, coming in fourth with 470 points. Manziel was fifth with 421, while Auburn Tigers running back Tre Mason was sixth with 404.

Mack Brown steps down and will retire following the bowl game.

Pretty ridiculous process by UT. Orchestrated leaks resulting in a smear campaign against first their former AD and now Brown. I'm not saying they weren't justified and change wasn't needed, but it was a really poor way to go about it.

Now the names about potential candidates leaking out is hilarious.

Saban? Hahahahahahahaha.

Malzahn? Auburn will give him a Brinks truck.

Jimbo Fisher? I don't see that happening.

Jim Mora? Unlikely.

Art Briles? Get the Texas thing, but he has no pressure and can do whatever he wants at Baylor. I'd wager he wouldn't want to leave that.

James Franklin? Would be a great hire considering what he has done at a prestigious academic school in the SEC, but I wouldn't be surprised if he was deemed 'not experienced enough.'

Todd Graham? Texas native, hired at ASU by current UT AD. Definitely some ties there.

Mark Dantonio? Would he want to be someone's 10th choice? Would he want to leave Michigan State for a new challenge or stay like Tom Izzo who turned down the NBA? Texas native and has done great things at MSU.

As a MSU fan, I actually wouldn't mind Dantonio leaving all that much in the long term. It would be terrible at first, but then they would just promote Narduzzi from DC to HC. He's already had one high DC offer last year (A&M) and a HC offer this year (UConn) he turned down. As one of the best, if not the best, assistant coach in college football, he's not going to stay at MSU making $550k forever when he can make ~3x as a first year coach.

Edit: I won't even address the NFL coach rumors like Tomlin and Harbaugh because those are just too ridiculous to give any discussion.

KInd of shocked at how dead this thread became. It was so active last year right up until the end of the bowl season. Not a great year?

I personally don't care about many of the bowls outside of the Rose (MSU fan) and the BCS title. There's not many compelling match ups or story lines for me. I haven't watched any bowl game action so far.

I am looking forward to my New Years Day plans of watching the Winter Classic at 1pm and the Rose Bowl at 5pm. Hello couch!

There are too many useless bowls that are spread out to long. Have 10 bowls and show them all on New Years.

Agreed but I generally like college football better then NFL so I'll take what I can get. I think the Las Vegas bowl and the Sheraton Hawaii bowl were pathetic.

What I hate is how they string out the BCS bowls all week, I used to enjoy watching 3 or 4 bowl games at the same time on New Years. It used to be a great football day to have all of them going on one day.

I too will only be watching the Rose Bowl. The Cardinal are off to a good start, out-eating MSU at Lawry's Prime Rib by 15 pounds of succulent, medium rare prime rib, though they did have the benefit of competing in the same contest last season.

The only bowl game I'm really interested in is the Fiesta bowl. It is the first BCS bowl game for my alma mater, the University of Central Florida.

come on Long Horns!!!

Hey, cool, the Longhorns QB is really good at throwing TDs!

But, really, Oregon were irritated by this bearded guy trying to make off with their mascot. So they watched Full Metal Jacket to get amped up: "Only two kinds come from Texas ..."

Speaking of, this NYT article probably doubled the college football bowl coverage I've read to date and it can be hardly classified as coverage :p
