i have a 3gs on the firmware before 4 (3.1 something) with spirit jailbreak on new bootrom.
when this is released does that mean i can finally upgrade to 4 and jail break it?

Why is anyone sitting around for hours talking about some nobody on the internet? Geez, you people need to get a life in a serious way.

last Twitter Comex made anything about Jailbreaking was June 28th pretty funny actually. at least I find it ammusing.

Comex tweet june 28th
I assumed @geohot would have plans to release a jailbreak at some point because he has a working exploit. I know, how silly

still no news yet? I am hoping this weekend will have some good news :)

Another jailbreakless week has gone by but we're still standing. Hopefully we'll get some actual announcement from Comex himself this week, seeing as he's been keeping quiet for awhile now...

By the way, what the heck happened imacrat anyway?

Comex better watch out. This will cause all the geohot sycophants to leap to his defense.

This has been musclenerds latest tweets .. seems like jailbreak is already done . just waiting

I just have to ask, what makes you think it's already done? He didn't say that.

are you serious? and if they didnt already jailbreak it why would they say its for ALL devices on current fw UNTETHERD ..they couldnt/wouldnt say that unless they were sure and have already done it ..

sure - it's feasible that they are done, HOWEVER no one on the dev team has said they are finished with anything yet. I swear you guys hear what you want to :)

Furthermore it's obvious that they have JB'd it for themselves - I'm not questioning that. But doing it for their own good vs. getting close to a public release are very much two different things, right? People creating software talk about features all the time before they are done. Im sure they are to the point where the can make that statement with a certain amount of confidence... but they NEVER said they were finished... they NEVER said they are waiting on anything either.

If you disagree, show me where they say they are finished with the JB - the only thing that has been said SPECIFICALLY is a) how it will work b) what devices it will work on and c) who is "handling" it. All things that can very easily be stated w/o being finished with it.

None of those things are nearly as close as the statements the keep floating around these forums.

Do I think they are probably done with it? Probably. But have they stated that? NO.

Probably the "jailbreak for all devices at 4.0 is already handled by upcoming @comex release" bit....

"handled" doesn't mean he's done w/ it and is waiting to release it. That post can very easily be read to suggest that he is "tasked" with figuring out the public release :)

I know you didn't raise this point - but I have to say that the Dev Team and specifically @comex have not said they are WAITING for anything, such as the Apple release of 4.0.1, everyone just keeps on assuming that.

:)

There is no reasoning with you. You are trolling looking to argue. If you cant read between the lines and take what they say and put it together then i dont know how we can have a conversation.

I agree I think people read & see what they want all the time. I also think that's why Comex has been quite. Even Musclenerd has been kinda on the down low. oh well people will continue to see and read what they want.

TeamDNA, they're not being unreasonable. You're reading things into what they've said that just aren't there. Sure, comex is working on a jailbreak tool and, sure, Dev-Team members have already used his exploit to jailbreak their own iPhone 4s. But that simply does not mean that comex has already finished his tool. The Dev-Team members are hackers. They have the skills to jailbreak their phones 'manually' -- without completed tools. Comex may have completed his jailbreak already and may just be waiting for the next Apple firmware update...but nothing anyone with knowledge has written proves it.

For that matter, they haven't even said that they're even doing anything to begin with. All we have to go on is what MuscleNerd and planetbeing have said.

True.

It's one thing to find the exploitables and verify they work using a manual method and it's quite another to package it all up into a one-click, foolproof solution that idiots like us can use. At this point, it probably takes them longer to do the latter than the former.
