Please correct me if I'm wrong, because I could be, but that might have to due with the fact that there were multiple other JB solutions out there.

"handled" doesn't mean he's done w/ it and is waiting to release it. That post can very easily be read to suggest that he is "tasked" with figuring out the public release
I know you didn't raise this point - but I have to say that the Dev Team and specifically @comex have not said they are WAITING for anything, such as the Apple release of 4.0.1, everyone just keeps on assuming that.
The way I see it, handled is past tense, as in done, and upcoming as in, it's out soon. If it's done and it's comming soon, they're waiting for something.

Couldn't agree more. I would say that there is def. value in providing accurate information to all the folks that come on here looking for answers - unfortunately accurate = unclear at this point.

they have said that the upcoming jailbreak will be for all devices.

New Spirit JB could be released in two days, because iOS 4.0.1 is released tomorrow night.
